ViruRulez Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I dont understand why YP has started the brainfart again since the last two matches .. he was playing the balls on merit for a few months now but it seems he has returned to his brainfart ways again
zen Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 If the ball had gone 6 inches above the fielder, it would have been a different story .... the guy eased the pressure off in the game against Ire too when he went on attack straight away .... No points taken away from YP, esp when he was promoted to #4 to take advantage of PP. By the same arguments, Yuvi shouldn't have played shot in the PP too

vvvslaxman Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 India's full focus was on that fat kid chawla.. THat is why we couldn't experiment anything else.
asterix Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Don't you think Dhoni will most probably try to 'prove his point' again? :winky: He might try to unless, Saching, Sehwag and other seniors "tell" Dhoni to stop being a dickhead.. If the match would've been not in Chennai, Nehra would've played another match for Dhoni to prove his point. But since it's Chennai, Ashwin will finally get a chance and most probably Nehra has to sit out..
akshayxyz Posted March 12, 2011 Author Posted March 12, 2011 Today (and against Netherlands too) he had sufficient time. Today may be it was powerplay that he went for senseless slogging - in that case wrong message/directive from the management. Powerplay or not, one should take the time to set the eyes ( if there is time for that) and then only go for hitting (if the ball is there to be hit). Hope the team carries the learning forward.
zen Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 It is yet another thing to get out off a juicy fulltoss though :winky: Yes, I guess, you have to get the juicy full toss away into SA's throat when the team just lost GG and YP .:winky:
Sid Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 How do you quote posts?? Anyway this in reference to DHON_ZONEs message, he was sent in ahead of all those other guys in the middle of the PP to smash it. His role was to come in and smash it, thats why he was sent in during the PP, he got out trying to smash it so you can't blame him. The blame for his failure has to be placed of Dhoni/Kirsten for not realising that Yusuf does best when he's allowed to bat a few overs. Dont know what you are talking about,he had good no. of overs to perform but he didnt .H e is been picked in the side to do this and if he cant then we may have to replace him.In our match vs Eng,I supported him becoz he had only 5-6 overs but today he had time on his hand.
Debutant Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Last match when he was sent in the no 3 position,he was never forced to hit sixes. He had all the time in the world to set in and then play his shots. He succumbed. He has not performed in this worldcup.
Ravi. Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Raina should play. He has more experience than Yusuf, bowls intelligently unlike yusuf and his fielding is better.
expoking Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Not true. Like others have said' date=' we had enough overs for him to find his groove. You can't justify his batting today cause he didn't have time to settle down. This is as good as it is going to get for him situation wise. Great start, enough overs still left, sent in early ahead of others to accelerate and get us to decent score. He wasn't sent to have a brain fart.[/quote'] Yusuf is a more destructive batsmen than any other batsmen in our team, to fully utilize that we need to give him more time rather than sending him in situations where he is expected to get quick cameo. That's not who he is, against SA in SA he came in a bad situation but with plenty of time to play and we were rewarded with a stunning innings, against NZ he came in a similarly tricky situation with plenty of balls left and he won us the game. He was initially dropped from the team because he kept coming into situations like the one today and failing to get a quick cameo. That's why his average sucks but his strike rate is high. Even in the IPL when hit a century 0ff 37 balls against Mumbai he faced 13 balls for 15 runs to get his eye in.
asterix Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Guys, Pathan is not Pollard..He has his limitations..He is good in the lower order..To send him up the order was part of a screwed up Lahori Logic and a botched experimentation which has been going on in all the league matches..

That is not going to happen. It is always going to be 50/50 at the international level. In 37 ball century he score 85% of his runs against Rajagopal saiths and other trundlers. Not of Zak and Malinga. He can wreak havoc. But only against certain bowlers.

He dominated SA in SA, that should prove he can hit the best of them.
Sooda Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 is Rainas bowling as good as Yousufs though? The kast thing we need is below par part time bowling, our front liners are especially hot as it is...YP only bowled 4 overs today as well.

He is a regular bowling option for his first class side. Raina is not. But in ODI the difference is too small that we can ignore. But i very much doubt Dhoni will drop Yusuf.
maniac Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Pathan performs once in a bluemoon...this is more like Paki philosohpy where they play razzaq who might win them one in 50 matches with his batting when he is a useless tundler and a poor fielder...Afridi for all his moronic attitude is atleast a decent LOI bowler.Raina should be in this team. As far as Kohli is concerned he is being wasted coming in at no.6 when he is more of a Gambhir like player.Dhoni is a liability with the bat but he is a good keeper and he is definetely not the worst captain in this worldcup
