@Karan As harsh as it sounds but Harbhajan has been poor in the ICC EVENTS and when everyone bashes him he,l perform well in few matches and complain my simple question is that why Swann was regarded as the best for an year or so coz he was consistent in taking wickets same goes for Steyn he proves himself again and again even today what impressed me abt Tredwell was he was attacking or trying to get wickets even after being hit for boundaries thats how you do it you dont become satisfied that batsman are blocking you so no issue there.

These statistic should completely kill any confidence Dhoni has built for Chawla's in the last few days. I think he is beyond confidence building now.The only thing he needs is pshycological help to go along with his talent or the lack of it

There's a MASALA NEWS on TOI which says that Cheeka and Dhoni are at loggerheads about the team selection of the next match. It seems Dhoni is keen to play Chawla but BCCI, Selectors etc are asking him to select R Ashwin. Raina is confirm to play. N Srinivasan was also in the meeting at the team hotel.. Not sure if there's any truth in that news. I'm okay with either Chawla or Ashwin. I don't want Dhoni to be pissed off and screw up Goddy's WC campaign. Allow him to do whatever he likes. He'll be sorted once the WC is over..
I wouldn't put too much money on these reports. It's unlikely reporters would know what the discussions were about. For all we know they might be discussing who needs to partner Zaheer and these reporters have to make up something to remain in business.

^ Sounds like masala news to me...A board would pick a squad but I have never heard of a board interfering in the selection of a playing xi.The playing xi is a desicion of the Captain,Coach and Management team.If Dhoni is the guy who makes the call on who should play in xi than what are we paying Kirsten for??? Even assuming this is true Dhoni is too chalak to p*** off BCCI.

Well that may be for a bilateral series, but for a WC I think all bets are off. It comes once every 4 years and if folks see a captain making dumb mistakes, it is their duty to instill some sense in him before everyone feels sorry for another 4 years. And right now, Dhoni can use some advice regarding team selection given that he himself probably feels pushed to a corner with the non-performance of some of the players he has backed.

I am not sure if Dhoni gave an honest answer regarding Chawla's selection. If you are going to build someone' s confidence there must be a strong reason for it. If he is not going to play Chawla for the rest of the games the whole exercise is futile. I still think it was more to do with Dhoni's stubbornness than anything else. Let us see the selection for the next match. That will give us a picture. He probably thought he would get away with that lame reason.

No need to interfere with the captain and the team management. If you are not happy with captain's performance then take the action once the tourney gets over. Interfering with team selection and overruling & undermining the captain is unlikely to get you success. Ultimately Dhoni will get the blame for team selection so he deserves to make the call on who plays. Selectors did their job and now let Dhoni do his.

Let Dhoni take decisions. Once the WC is over, issues can be resolved. IMO Dhoni has become very predictable in shorter form of the game. He has also been complaining about hectic schedule etc. He even missed the ODI series against NZ. So he should leave the captaincy of ODI & T20 for Gambhir and if he wishes, can play as a WK and he captains the Test team. Gambhir will bring fresh ideas and approach. This will also nudge favorite players having friendly and business relationships with Dhoni to start performing and take their place in the team seriously. Those players who have been predujised against or were 'not in the good books' of Dhoni can look forward to more opportunities to play for India. Overall a fresh, non-defensive approach. So I expect either Dhoni steps down from ODI/T20 captaincy or he be removed after the WC.

Personal biases will always come into play. Every captain has confidence in some players compared to others and you can never take it out of the game. Gambhir will have his own plan and he may feel, rightly or not, that certain players may not fit in. Ultimately it's the captain who takes the fall for team's performance so he should be allowed to pick whatever team he choses.

@asterix Gauti would play Nehra and if he is being backed by seniors then they must be Viru Gauti Uv Zak Harbhajan and Chawla was selection of Msd and Garry
Still Gauti's time has come now. We need a fresh approach in captaincy. Nehra has the capability to go to oblivion..I'm not just talking about M$Ds selection policies. He is a pretty defensive captain in various aspects including field settings etc. I've seen Gambhir being more proactive and attacking. The problem with M$D being captain is that it's making Bhajji complacent. That's affect the teams already depleted bowling resources...

The defensive mindset has to be removed.

@asterix il first give the t20 captaincy to Gambhir and ask M.S to sit out coz hes poor in t20 and MS can continue with ODI/TESTS
Dhoni has been complaining about hectic schedules etc. IMO his time is up now as far as ODI/T20 captaincy is concerned. He can take as much rest as possible and captain the Test team..If he wishes to conitnue as a WK/Batsman in ODIs/T20, it's upto him but then he souldn't complain about hectic schedules etc.

@asterix Gambhir must have been proactive against kiwis i didnt followed the series but in a few years time same would happen with him initially i thought MS was fearless when he became captain but now he looks defensive and goes thru the motions and i guarantee u Bhaj wont be removed

Let every one else take their Ave and SR and stats' date=' we will take the World cup[/quote'] Yeah, the emphasis is on the Batsmen to win the WC. They can provided they don't collaps as frequently as they have been doing..
