Switchblade Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 @asterix If we crash out of the W.C which is very possible he will be stripped of captaincy or may be the players and board will back him but one thing i can safely say is that in major tournaments this team doesnt looks confident to me il be happy if they win this cup but their approach is -ve
Switchblade Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 @asterix Batsmen alone wont win this if u look at other teams they are good at 2 aspects while there are few who are having free rides due to their reputation if u look at todays match Swann and Bress added 20-25 runs which proved to be the deciding factor of the game but our jokers cant even do that
Ultimate_Game Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Yeah' date=' the emphasis is on the Batsmen to win the WC. They can provided they don't collaps as frequently as they have been doing..[/quote'] No team has ever won the world cup solely on the batsmen. You might win a few games but eventually bowlers will need to step up to the plate. As the tourney gets to the business end you will play better teams and they are unlikely to concede 320+ runs on a regular basis. The bowlers will eventually have to win games where the score is in the 250-280 range. Even though our batting did collapse a couple of times I still wouldn't blame them. They have put up following scores - 370, 338, 210/5, 190/5, 296. If given such a scenario before the world cup I would have happily taken these scores. It's our bowlers who are putting extra pressure on our batsmen which is costing us. If we had a bowling lineup which was even half-decent our batsmen wouldn't have been forced to go for extra runs against SA and throw away their wkts resulting in a loss. If they had any confidence in our bowlers they would have settled for a score of 330--340 which would have gotten us the game. But the tie against Eng would have been at the back of their mind as our bowlers failed to defend even 338 and SA is a much stronger batting lineup than Eng. The bowlers have to take the blame as batsmen can't do everything for them. They gotta defend decent, but not great, totals if we have any chance of winning the cup. Hope windies game will be the turn-around game for us and the Indian bowling and we will peak at the right time to win the cup
asterix Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I know what you guys are saying. I just didn't wanted to spoil Coffee_Rules party.. :icflove:
Switchblade Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 @asterix but do u think anyone who is going to be the new leader will drop the non performing guy
asterix Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 @asterix but do u think anyone who is going to be the new leader will drop the non performing guy It depends upon how PISSED OFF BCCI could be after the loss of revenue and hype if India crashes out early. The Srikanth group of selectors are finishing their term soon. So it'll depend upon the new group of selectors, BCCI's approach, public pressure etc. For all we know Dhoni might continue for next 5 years as captain in all formats.
fineleg Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Harbhajan needs to take wickets against West Indies, or else be dropped during or after WC. PATHETIC by Ind spinners. Chee-Thoo-Karmam!
maniac Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 As I have mentioned in my earlier posts I don't see what Guru Gary's role is...There hasn't been an improvement in fielding....Bowling both Spin and Pace has been patheic...from what we see Dhoni is very stubborn in his choices of players,Apart from Tendulkar or Kohli in ODI's and Tendulkar,Dravid and Laxman in tests the batting techniues of most players has been susceptible in bowling pitches...eg;Pathan,Raina,Yuvraj. He is very meek and as I have said he is the luckiest and most useless coach that we ever had.I will stand by it even if we win the worldcup.Looks like we have the inmates running the asylum.Yuvraj,Bhajji,Dhoni for all their inconsistencies look untouchable.Greg chappel for all his faults would have been ideal especially with this team. The only wrong timing of his tenure was that we had too many larger than life stars back then. I may have picked the wrong thread for this rant but looking at the way Chawla was persisted with despite leaking so many crucial runs tells the whole story.
vpg0002 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Today when Simon hughes said Bhajji had to learn from Swann' date=' Sidhu was all going nuts :cantstop:[/quote'] I did not see this but I can very well imagine how hysterical Sidhu would have become. :cantstop:
cowboysfan Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Gary Kirsten's role is mainly inspirational(and that counts for a lot). There has never been any great Coaching changes in his tenure. We could do a lot worse than him because a Coach who doesnt have the players confidence will derail this team.

In what way is Gary Kirsten inspirational can you explain???
maniac Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Looking at the stats again,we see new and upcoming spinners who play in pitches non-conducive to spin bowling tossing up and trying to beat the batsman by flight and turn and one hand we have Harbhajan with more than 300 test wickets attacking the legstump with a flat trajectory and Chawla who isn't just good or confident enough.
Midfielder Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Guys quit hating Harbhajan. His role has been to contain and he has done that. Once again the numbers you have posted are about as meaningless as they can get. Grounds are not the same, countries are not the same pretty much nothing is the same so how on earth these numbers matter. They dont. I have seen some hate against Harbhajan and bias for other spinners. He is the best India has to offer and please dont go around pulling meaningless numbers. If fielding picks up India will win this WC.
cowboysfan Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 In what way is Gary Kirsten inspirational can you explain??? We are no 1 in tests for quite some time now and have been no 1 in odis as well(not to mention numerous bilateral wins). The coach is also limited by the talent in some ways.
therocky Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 That's because our spinners are ****, Even Suleiman Benn alone has more wickets than bhajji, chaiwala and pathan combined and way better strike rate than any of them.
