Zaheer Khan in the WC 2011

One thing that this world cup has proven so far is that all the other over hyped left arm bowlers like Johnson and James Anderson especially simply aren't in the same class as Zaheer. If we even had one other bowler who started playing up to his potential we would unbeateable in this world cup but instead we've got a bunch of underachieving dummies in Sreesanth, Nehra, Pathan and now Bhajji.
Anderson bowls right arm, he bats left handed

does wasim has anything to do with him being a better bowler. Another thing i notice is that him and bowlers in general dont get as much attention as do the batsmen. This attitude needs to be changed if we want good fast bowlers.

Don't know man. I never had enough confidence in Srinath. You could never bank on him against good opponent and in must-win games. I recall 2003 world cup when he was totally off color in our must win games in super 6 stage and the same thing happened in the world cup final in 2003. Zaheer right now with old ball at least gives the team enough confidence to know that at least Zaheer's end would not go for runs.
I seem to remember that Zaheer got smacked badly in his opening over in the 2003 final, also Srinath was past his best in 2003. Srinath's best World Cup was 1999 where he was the second fastest bowler of the tournament behind Shoaib Akhtar.

Among the fast bowlers from India Zak has the best body language. Have you seen Srinath who would almost apologize to the batsman for hitting him with the bouncer. Mentally very stable. Sreesanth for all his antics can come up with a peach even after getting hit around. But in ODIs that is a risky thing. He may get hit around for 70 runs in 6 overs before bowling that peach.

Zak has been the real MVP in our team till now. We wouldn't even have come this far if it weren't for him. I hope he surpasses Afretard as the highest wicket taker in the WC come tomorrow... it's just a matter of time.

Yup.. He is the best considering he had zero support.
Yep. Also while playing most of his games in India, where the pitches have been more batsman friendly than Lanka and Bangla (and even that Bangla pitch was unusually batting friendly)

that's true. watch some of his old games, and you'll see an eternally depressed expression on his face, and more so after bowling a peach but not getting a wicket, instead of getting fired up even more. i wonder if he practised boxing as part of training, which helps you get more aggressive.

his spell vs Eng was the best one... Had he bowled 50th over vs SA instead of 49th, I am sure Ind would hv won that game... his 49th over was superb...

Don't forget ZAK The one man under tremendous pressure in a team full of batting greats. He played a significant role in India winning the world cup. He gave some runs away in his last spell, but those three maidens and the wicket in the beginning set the tone of the match. Superb opening spell from him today.:two_thumbs_up:

Easily the best Fast bowler in the tournament, he earned all his wicket and none of them was freebies and bowled fantastically in the death and powerplay overs. To me, He and UV were the rest starts of the WC for India.
