Ranvir Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 In Southall, west London, people were going absolutely nuts, people dancing in the streets, horns blaring.
Andy Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Fans in Kolkata Celebrate India's Win With Crackers The moment Misbah-ul-Haq's shot found Virat Kohli at long-on to signal the end of Pakistan innings, people here took to streets to celebrate India's victory over the arch-rivals in the semi-final of the World Cup in Mohali today. As the co-hosts entered the final with a 29-run win, the Kolkatans, armed with crackers, hit the streets, while many carried out processions shouting India slogans. There were widespread celebrations in all corners of the city and euphoric scenes were also seen at Behala, where former India skipper Sourav Ganguly resides. Ganguly is busy with his commentary commitments, but his locality celebrated the victory with crackers. Fireworks started soon after Munaf Patel bowled dangerman Abdul Razzaq with a beautiful leg-cutter, which left Pakistan tottering at 152 for six chasing India's 261. Those watching the match on the streets on giant screens, danced to the tune of popular song 'Chakde! India'. Before the start of the match, the city wore a deserted look and all the busy roads were, for a change, empty. The only time some traffic could be seen was during the innings break.
Mariyam Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I ma gonna find a local "punjabi dhaba" to go to after making sure its not run by Pakistanis :hahaha: I'm confused now. And too tired to think straight. If its not too personal, where do you live???? You said "I'm wasted" :(( nvm :sniffle: Not in that way. If Mariyam drinks' date=' then I am going to quit :hitler: :hitler:[/quote'] I'll pretend I didn't read that.

Holysmoke Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Just got back 15 mins ago. Crazy celebrations here in Mumbai. Crackers, people honking car horns( I'm guilty as charged).... people dancing. I think I got back home too early. Holy, DK and others in Mumbai... go to Bachelor's juicewala ( outside Grant road station, opp H20). I was there at around 12 :30 and he was distributing juice free of charge and big party going on there. Said he woudl do that till he runs out of stock. Now I doubt his being Gujju. Some of my friends and others threw juice on a reporter ( news x, I think) when he was covering the celebrations live, all in good spirits. Later cops came and confiscated the crackers. Who cares. I bought a mini India flag, a Dhoni mask and a sticker of Tendulkar for the car all off the road. Got fleeced big time but who cares. Nooranis I heard would be open till late night, and also that famous chaat centre at Kemps corner. Hadn't seen such a spontaneous outburst of emotions even after the t-20 win. I'm too drained/wasted/happy to think straight.:isalute: :icflove: to all I was there. BTW, what chaat center at kemps corner? see this [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EA1pW489xJo]YouTube - Mumbai after IND PAK Semifinal[/ame]
Sachin=GOD Posted March 31, 2011 Author Posted March 31, 2011 A celebration scene that will remain etched in my memory forever happened late yesterday night. While all the people were celebrating, bursting crackers, dancing etc, the police patrol car was taking rounds of the city to make sure the situation did'nt get out of control - when it came to Chowk (the old city of Lucknow) the celebrations were in full flow and as soon as the police jeep went among the people, at least 10-15 people jumped on top of the jeep itself and the policemen did'nt say a single word to them
