He played a similar knock against Pakistan in Dambulla when India was chasing 270 odd and hit a six off Akhtar at a crucial juncture. If he can improve his technique against short pitch deliveries, he can cement his place in the test side.
rajmarie Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I like how Raina adds a bit of teeth to our fielding. He along with Kohli & Yuvraj are the only good fielders ATM. Also...today he played a very fine innings...& string together important runs with the tailenders. His batting position should stay the same ie at No 7...unless only 2-3 overs left in the final...then he can be promoted to No3 if needed

Disagree...he has done it plenty of times before when he has come in at #5. Also why didn't Kohli 'set up' the innings today or for that matter against Australia? The context was ideal for just such an innings. There is a reason why he averages 45 in ODIs...the team has literally bent itself backwards to put him on the pedestal.
