kabira Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Lanka had relatively easy games whereas we had two tough, hard games. That could be mentally tiring. But this team is prepared for it. Lanka will not play 3 spinners against us for sure. So I think they might drop Mendis and bring in either Fernando or Kulasekra. Lankan middle order is suspect, so I think we have to keep attacking like we did against Aussies and Pakis.
daryl1985 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Sri Lanka will be a really tough proposition. Their top 4 are superb and i think their bowling is better than ours Tharanga has really upped his game in this tournament and Dilshan loves to score runs against us. If we can get into that soft middle order relatively early (if we bowl 1st) or if we post a big total (so their middle order will have to contribute) i think we have a great chance of winning. If i was Sri Lanka i really would consider dropping Jayawardene to 5.
Karan114 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Lanka are a good team and have beaten us in the last two times we met them in world tournaments (2007 WC when they knocked us out and 2010 T20, did the same), we have to get down from the euphoria of this victory (not easy at all, even as a fan leave alone the players involved!) and prepare well for them, particularly their top four and the bowlers.
Switchblade Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Hope Gambhir is fit im worried that he had hamstring injury

Our SL Middle oder played well so far.any one can't compared Indian middle oder and SL middle oder. because the difference of Pitches .Indian dead pitches means batting paradise . So I am pretty sure our team can win this .:beach:
rajmarie Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Correct...as said before...they will travel to Mumbai tomorrow. So they should start final preparation from tomorrow onward. Friday should be dedicated to solid practice...with extra attention to fielding.
WC2011INDIA Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Correct...as said before...they will travel to Mumbai tomorrow. So they should start final preparation from tomorrow onward. Friday should be dedicated to solid practice...with extra attention to fielding. I agree. I just hope that after 2 back to back tough games, India isn't mentally and physically tired. Please India win the cup on April 2, 2011. PS: Once again, I am not going to watch the match.
Andy Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Sri Lanka looks a Top order heavy side. In the batting department Sanga and Dilshan are scoring most of the runs and Tharanga too. We should try and stop Dilshan who loves making runs against us. If Sri Lanka wins the toss and Dilshan gives them a quick fire start of 50 for No loss, the game may well get over early. I am worried most about Sri Lanka's death bowling, Malinga would be very difficult to get away, especially in the death overs where we suck Most. Do not count Murali out too.
ViruRulez Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 SL has been our punching bag and b!tch for last two years and we have defeated them numerous times especially in India .. we always have a mental edge over them and we should win easily if we play proper cricket .. just dont let Dilshan, Sanga and Jaya to score too much and we should be fine
yoda Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 If anyone thinks the finals will be easy and that we will crush SL, they are delusional. SL had decent bowling with Malinga, Mendis, Murali and experienced batting in Dilshan, Sanga and Lady Jaya. I expect this to be a nail biter if both teams play to their potential.

It is about the mental edge and we for sure have the mental after having defeated tons of times in the last couple of years. Even our b-grade team has defeated them and so if we keep that attitude in a pressure game like the final and play sensibly and free of pressure then we should win .. to be fair enough none of the Ms have done well against us till now especially on Indian pitches .. their batsmen are fair enough but Dilshan had his day during last match and he normally has a day off after every good knock :giggle: .. Lady Jaya is due and might be a small problem though
mastana Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 They should have kept the final on Sunday. :finger: Salla saturday ko kaunse padosi ko bimaar karke chutti lu.
Square Drive Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 SL middle order is weak.. SL middle order is vulnerable.. SL middle order is this.. SL middle order is that.. :wall: WTF we all know that. No need to repeat it. :finger: I had enough of these comments now (even from SL media). :cantstop:
wanted_desi Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Bat First Or Chase in Finals I hope we don't take SriLanka lightly like we did in 96 WC.
vvvslaxman Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 SL also is capable of choking while chasing. Always bat first. Runs on the board. Nothing like it.
ViruRulez Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Basic thumb rule .. always bat first in a pressure game
Andy Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I hope we don't take SriLanka lightly like we did in 96 WC. Did we? I dont remember. But on the Topic we should always bat first.
