Was this a scrappy victory?

Except for Sachin's innings, what was scrappy about the Indian victory. India batted, fielded and bowled better than Pak. Why call it a scrappy win? :finger: CI self-loathers... "India scrap their way to Mumbai" While SL surge ahead in a tense win!

One of the most important benefits from India's scrappy World Cup semi-final victory over Pakistan - apart from the sound and sight of a hundred firecrackers going out around the PCA stadium on a Mohali night and the adoration of millions - is their team's sense of being in what captain MS Dhoni equated to a good spell.
Pakistan lost by 29 runs to India in Mohali in a scrappy match, in which they were generally off their game with bat, ball and, most damagingly, in the field. They were in with a chance at various stages, including when they began the chase, only to let it slip each time.
So, India didn't win this game. Only Pakistan lost it...

Tendulkar's innings was chancy. Definitely not his fault. We also gave them chances. Yuvi missed a simple run out. Dhoni messed up stumping. Couple of catches dropped. Let me think how many times Pakistan was in the match. Half way through. You might say. They hadn't batted yet. You can't say they were favorites out and out. They were in the game until Hafeez lost his wicket. From that point it was downhill for them.

who were those other batsmen from amongst the 11+11 that got even closer to the Boss ... forget about scratchiness :hmmm:
Misbah did quite well but really man, Boss was nowhere near as fluent as he should have been... even then he still looked exquisite. I think he was as shell shocked as much as Pakistan when he was dropped 6 times and that affected his game play.

Don't think Sachin's innings was scratchy, he was getting bored of Pakistani darters and phaaaast bowlers and tried lifting their fielders by giving some catching practice, not his fault that Pakistan still sucks in International cricket, can't even take the easiest of catches. Pakistani players should go back to club cricket and learn practicing catching then come to even think about playing India.

We could have easily won with 50+ runs margin except from last couple of Misbah shots and Zaheer's bit lose bowling. I never thought this was a close contest after Pak was 4 down

Yes and no. Pundits keep focusing on India's cricketing skills and ignore our ability to win a game of cricket. The latter is what made the Aussies and Windies of yesteryear such great sides and it's time India got its due. We know how to win!

True to some extent. In 2003 world cup Austrlaia put up two really scratchy batting performance against England and New zealand. In one match Bichel bailed them out. In another match Brett Lee bailed them out.

That CI headline was utter BS. Guys over there can't stand anything good from our team and the weird thing is many of their writers are Indians. :finger:

Lol...even baasu would agree that this innings was not such a great one. Just because it came in a important match does not mean that it's his best innings by far. Raina looked more fluent from the ball one. He would have been surprised by the choice of man of the match. Wahab riaz would have been a better choice.

For goodness sakes!!! scrap·py 2 (skrp) adj. scrap·pi·er, scrap·pi·est 1. Quarrelsome; contentious. 2. Full of fighting spirit Get a clue, guys!! Somewhere someone is laughing at your hurling brickbats at CI.

Yea.. Pakistan's fielding lapses are not new. They missed stumpings against Srilanka. They dropped catches against New zealand. Now they did the same against India. It is part and parcel of Pakistan cricket. Worst fielding unit in the world. They invest so much in bowling that they forget other 2 departments completely. They still depend on magic deliveries.
