He gets out defending- that's a bad sign. you can reign in the rash shots, gain a bit of composure, but if you can't defend the reasonably good ball on the off, that's your basics outta the window. No redress for that. I have no doubt that if given a chance on Indian pitches, he'll do moderately well, because the pitch is taken out of the equation. But not abroad, not in Tests. You must be thinking how you may have to eat some humble pies (as I predicted earlier) by tomorrow given how Kohli has gone today!!!!!! Tomorrow's innings will involve some risk taking. So brain fart will be part of it.

He looks easily the worst batsman to have played test cricket for India in recent memory.

Its understandable if the team was in a spot of bother, but when the team is in a good position to force a result, he comes and screws up the last session. He is a real good talent, but he doesn't have a good temperament. He was playing to secure his spot and screw up the result. All can counter argue and say this is test cricket blah blah blah.. but players should play according to situations and play to win, not for their own personal milestones, specially from a youngster, who is capable of scoring quick. I still remember him doing this act with Rohit sharma in a ODI against Aussies, after just being 2 down and chasing a big target. They never went for the victory at all. When Prabhakar and Mongia did that once, they were blasted, wonder what would you say to Kohli's approach that day.

I am not a great fan of Kohli as a person but I do like Kohli as a batsman as he always have an aggressive approach towards his batting even in start of his innings(unlike Rohit who takes gazzillions balls to hit first boundary).. though even I am surprised by Kohlis approach today ..prolly had one off day... Also I don't believe u for ur bolded part ...can you send me a link where Kohli(Not Rohit) played a slow selfish innings??

You had to watch the match on how they went on chasing that target.

Apart from the pull shot...there was nothing there really to suggest he will be a world beater. Looked far from assured in defence even against Bishoo.

To be fair to him, he has struggled in his 1st 3 innings so he was never going to come in and look to be positive. If we wanted to chase a result, Dhoni should have sent Raina in to try and up the run rate rather than Kohli. I'm glad he has spent some time at the crease, hopefully he gets to 50 and then starts trying to hit out.

Show_stopper Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 We might as well Virat for the 3rd test since the other alternatives also don't figure in the squad to England. One thing we can do though is promote Raina ahead of Kohli or whoever takes his place in the 3rd test. Because atm we are putting a lot of pressure on our last batting pair ALL the time (Dhoni doesn't count as a batsman for this series).
