satyam1729 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Despite them having 1/50 population of ours ? Both country have same per capita income. Is their something wrong is our domestic system ? We should have atleast 5 teams like SL everytime.

We should have atleast 5 teams like SL everytime. There is lot wrong with our domestic system but slowly we are getting there. Indian team has improved leaps and bounds in last 10 years or so and it will continue to do so..
Cricketics Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 It's easy to find 11 top players ina small nation than finding top 11 in a country as big as India where cricket is played on every street, and population is so high.

Homerus_Unus Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Despite them having 1/50 population of ours ? Answer: STEROIDS! B->B->B->
Sachin=GOD Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Really. :giggle::giggle: What does BCCI do with all the money ? goes into the pockets of the various BCCI babus, is'nt that obvious :dontknow:

satyam1729 Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 A guy like Irfan pathan would walk into padosis team purely as a batsman. In SL.
vvvslaxman Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 In SL. India's bench strength is always going to be better than SL. Don't you think Raina would not have found a place in SL. He was sitting in the bench for us. He would pretty walk into any team in the world.

vvvslaxman Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Still we don't have 5 sangakara or 5 Malinga. We have Sreesanth and Nehra. You just need 11 players. :winky: . All a country needs is a handful of males playing. NZ population is 5 times less than Srilanka. They have produced excellent cricketers. Australia's population is roughly the same as SL's population. They dominated the world like anything
WC2011INDIA Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 You just need 11 players. :winky: . All a country needs is a handful of males playing. NZ population is 5 times less than Srilanka. They have produced excellent cricketers. Australia's population is roughly the same as SL's population. They dominated the world like anything Because Aus have excellent sports infrastructure. India still does not have a proper sports infrastructure. However, our cricket infrastructure has improved a lot in the last 10 years. I am pretty confident that India can dominate in all kinds of sports if our infrastructure improves considerably. I really want soccer to become the next or second biggest thing in India. I would like the Indian soccer team to be up there with the elite soccer countries.

yoda Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Didn't we just beat them? :winky: Remember, there are tons more players who are deserving to be on the national side who simply don't get a chance, at least batsmen. Regarding bowlers, yes we just suck. :--D
Homerus_Unus Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 --->:hehe: :haha::haha::haha::haha: LOLZ ... and where did you learn this stupid thing? in your statistic class ... people these days -_-' Actually it does make sense. In order to find a genuine talent in a sea of hopefuls, you need scouts. A population of >1 billion, makes that task that much harder.
Midfielder Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 If the selection is right India can produce many more.
Appuhami Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 School cricket is extremely competitive in SL. All the payers in national team has been recognized when they playing for their school. Sri Lankans know the schoolz of all the playerz if doesn't know their home towns.
Prakat Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 SL setup is also very encouraging when it comes to experimenting and trying new things. I'm not sure a bowler like Malinga would have survived many bowling coaches at the junior level in India.
Orange Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 India is underachieving when it comes to sports. How many olympic medals do we have?... tells a lot. And given all that we've got, India, not Australia, should've dominated the cricket world all these years. And I'm sure cricket and hockey are not the only sports we can dominate. The system needs to be changed.
Orange Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Srilanka can do even better if they have a decent bunch of selectors.
