Cricketics Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 My Ideal squad Gambhir Sehwag Dravid Tendulkar Laxman Dhoni Vijay Pujara Kohli/Yuvraj- Would love to see Kohli. Equally want Yuvi to get chance since he is full of confidence Harbhajan Zaheer Ishant R.P Singh Munaf Praveen Kumar
Clarke Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Ghor samasya cricketics, who do we rest among the bowlers .. You don't want Sree at all ? He was jolly good in SA, kept beating the bat in the second & third tests while Ishant released the pressure from the other end. No ojha either ?
Cricket Tragic Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I'd love to see RP in form before the England tour but he appears to have lost it. Sree will definitely make the test team. Kohli should be the reserve middle order batsman. I'm looking at the tour of England since that is the biggest test. WI should be a "fill your boots" series for our batsmen unless all their fast bowlers are fit AND they get some real pace in the wickets. I really hope it happens.
Cricketics Posted April 14, 2011 Author Posted April 14, 2011 Most likely Sree will get a go in odi series too in windies, if he is doing allrite, he should get a go with Zaheer(goes without saying) and perhaps Munaf(o you remember that beauty dismissal of Gayle on last tour to windies by Munaf?)
Clarke Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 ^^ ODI series in WI to decide on tests in England ? That's weird yo.
coffee_rules Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 After seeing Vijay, Pujara and Raina in the test team in SA, it is better to go with Badrinath and Rohit and/or Manish Pandey instead. I think all are same when it comes to test cricket.
Cricketics Posted April 14, 2011 Author Posted April 14, 2011 ^^ ODI series in WI to decide on tests in England ? That's weird yo. It's weird and I am not a big fan of Sreesanth, still feel thats how our team is always picked. If somsone does well in a paritcular odi series, he is often called back. Though in this case, Sreesanth would retain his place in test team.

coffee_rules Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 you missed out the best of the bunch - Kohli Well, he didn't play in tests.
saneindian Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Sehwag is most certainly out of the series 12 from the SA test squad Gambhir Vijay Dravid Sachin VVS Pujara Dhoni Bhajji Ojha Zak Sree Ishant Additions: Yuvraj, Kohli, Munaf (though I hope PK is picked) I hope they pick Ashwin too (as the 16th member) as the wickets in WI tend to be loaded in favour of spinners and having 3 spinners in the squad will give us the flexibility.
Cricketics Posted April 14, 2011 Author Posted April 14, 2011 Well' date=' he didn't play in tests.[/quote'] you mentioned you want Rohit or pandey. They haven't played test either.

Agree that Badrinath deserves a go but Kohli has leapfrogged him in the pecking order.

Munaf, Nehra & PK were playing only limited overs games in the last couple of years other than NZ in 2009. Now that he's not played the WC and is fresh, he might just get into the test squad.
rkt.india Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 PK in West Indies not sure about. Even new ball does not swing there.

zombiePotato Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 dont want to sound mean, but we should send the best under 19/21 side. It will hav 2 benefits: 1. Loads of exposure to the new kids and strengthen the bench. We will need it post laxman, dravid, sachin :( era. 2. It will provide much needed break to the current set of players so that they can start a fresh with the England series. :hatsoff:

mysterio86 Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 We need a gradual change in the Test side. Just cant hand it over to youngster like what Australia did. Give decent chances to younster every now and than to get them experience and than retire !!

It was same country to tour. West Indies. We got beaten there by them.
