Hope we don't lose a talent like Rohit Sharma

The guy is class and I just hope we don't mismanage his talent. He deserves a lot of chances and is one of the few Indian players who looks comfortable facing intl class bowling, along with sort pitched stuff. I still remember the T20 cup where he made major contributions against must win games against SA on a very difficult pitch, against Aus in semis and against Pak in the final. And he was also good in the CB Series tourney when we beat Aus in Aus. Plus who can forget his knock in the last T20 cup in windies against Aus when on a fast pitch in Barbados he was the only Indian batsman who looked comfortable against Aussie pacers. Pure class is what Sharma is and I would love to see him back in the team before Valthatys and Pandeys anyday. IMO he should be part of the T20 team as his T20 form has always been good and should be in the team for WI odis as well.

For that, hope that Rohit Sharma does not loose himself out of contention before it is too late!!!!!!!! The only person who can make him a good International batsman is HE himself:winky: The only person who can ruin to become another KAMBLI/AGARKAR is again HE himself!!!!!:nervous:

He has way more talent than Kambli. Kambli was found out by WI and couldn't play short ball at all. Rohit doesn't have any glaring weakness and looks one of the most asssured Indian batsman against a quality attack. His problem is more related to shot selection which could be rectified. The guy throws his wkt away more often than not and very rarely do you see him struggling against any bowler.

Sorry UG he has been a faliure in international circuit man dont like his attitude
Nope he isn't. He's unlucky to be around at a time where our depth in the batting dept is amazing. The guy was instrumental in winning us the T20 cup in SA and his innings against SA on a fast and bouncy pitch was a thing of beauty. He also performed in Aus in the CB Series tourney reasonably well and you gotta watch his innings against Aus in the last T20 cup held in WI. The game was played in Barbados - the paciest pitch in WI and one of the fastest anywhere, and Rohit Sharma was the only Indian batsman who looked comfortable against Aussie pacers. He has got to be persisted with as you don't waste such a talent.
This guy is IPL God, please dont take him seriously.
Pls see instances mentioned earlier. I am not the one to fall for a one-off performance in IPL and that's why would never root for Valthatys and Pandeys ahead of likes of Rohit Sharma and Uthappa. Rohit's problem is inconsistency which results from shot selection. If he works out that aspect of the game he would be one of the players India can depend on in the future. I have yet to see Rohit struggling against any bowler. More often than not he bats like a dream and then throws it away in 20s or 30s. Hope Tendulkar takes him under his wing this IPL and some of Tendulkar's knowledge and advice rubs on to Rohit

Thing with him is that he just doesnt know how to pace international innings.. Comes in ..Block block block, single, bloocck bloock block... 3(17)..realizes the pressure is on.. hits a so called classsy boundary.. again block block block block.. and out.. 11(34)...thats what he does in every EFFING match..screws up our run rate and middle overs

I have noticed that he has lost a lot of weight and looking sharp in the field again. Also made batting look easy when pretty much everyone else was struggling. Always thought his problem was temperament and not skill or technique. Let's see how he does in the rest of the matches.

In subcontinent we plainly abuse the word talent. If you don't know how to build an innings at the international level you are as good as nothing. Kohli is the real deal. He keeps getting better. Rohit after playing so many matches showed no improvement whatsoever.

That can always be learned though. He has time and again thrown away his wicket when he looked set. That may have to do with poor concentration and not necessarily a lack of talent. He certainly has talent playing shots all around the ground and can hit the big shots as well as delicate touches. Batting looks easy for him.

If Rohit Sharma is not talented then no youngster coming up in India can be classified as "talented". Yes he has not lived upto the expectations till now but that does not mean that he should be written off completely. He has the ability and he will make a comeback to the Indian team soon.

Yup he needs to work on shot selection but he is one of the very few Indian players who look comfortable facing intl class bowlers. Maybe I have a soft spot for him as I watched his innings against SA, Aus and Pak in T20 Cup and still can't forget how comfortable he looked on the intl scene facing world class bowlers and that too away from home.

According to Scott Styris' date=' Rohit loves his beer (not a surprise). There was a joke that he can live without anything as long as he has "the mug". The Rohit mug became well known in the IPL circles.[/quote'] Hope he has learnt his lesson as he's looking fitter and took a pretty good catch in the deep against Chennai. Hope this is a sign of better things to come.

Rohit looks in good shape' date='lost some pounds it seems.Played a brilliant knock today but he always does well in IPL,dont know what happens to him in intl. cricket[/quote'] I think one of the reasons is that he never gets a decent look-in. There are so many waiting in the wings that as soon as you fail a couple of times somebody else takes the batting spot. But he did perform ok in the last T20 cup - he was the batsman who looked most at home in WI.

No one doubts that he has serious potential. However, taking IPL performances into account is not a great idea for any player, let along someone like Rohit. Also remember that he is a good T20 player, even in international cricket. Very good record. He should always be in our T20 team. This was his last match for India: http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/463149.html
