putrevus Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Anwar might be great player as per Pakistan standards but to compare him with Sehwag is utterly ridiculous.
maniac Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 •Shahid Afridi acted as a runner for Saeed Anwar starting from 18.6 over, until the end. Notes from Cricinfo
panther Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Sehwag is a tend-setter in world cricket....Anwar is a Pakistani great.....2 different benchmarks how sl were smashing bowling attacks before sehwag debuted.
maniac Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 how sl were smashing bowling attacks before sehwag debuted. Not talking about exploiting the 15 over rule.....Couldn't find JayaSuriya's test S/R but never seen him play tests the same way as Odi's...pretty sure,he had a more measured approach in tests. Sehwag is a different animal altogether
maniac Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 ^ I know this thread is about ODI's and in ODI's the only attack Anwar generally demolished more often than not was Indian bowling and that too in SC and I guess we don't need to talk about the quality of Indian bowling in Anwar's time.He pretty much was measured in his approach against most teams.
Asim Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 To me what can make more sense out of this comparison is: Anwar vs India: avg 43.52 Sehwag vs Pakistan: avg 35.72 :yay: B->
Old guy Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 To me what can make more sense out of this comparison is: Anwar vs India: avg 43.52 Sehwag vs Pakistan: avg 35.72 :yay: B-> dumb paki logic :finger: also scoring runs against our tundlers and ur legendary fast bowlers is diff things no ? :P

Trichromatic Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 dumb paki logic :finger: also scoring runs against our tundlers and ur legendary fast bowlers is diff things no ? :P Ross Taylor 131 Not Out vs Pakistan World Cup 2011 HD - YouTube
Asim Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Openers Anwar 44.09 at SR of 89.98 Sehwag 38.28 at SR of 106.92 Afridi fan? :--D
Trichromatic Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Afridi fan? :--D I'm a tuk tuk player. Love frustrating opposition. :D
Asim Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 dumb paki logic :finger: also scoring runs against our tundlers and ur legendary fast bowlers is diff things no ? :P Damn What a :fail: u came up with Here your "logic" actually goes against you... I wish u cudv start watching cricket since 90s at least :--D Aren't Srinath, Sir Agarkar, Kumble & Parsad etc ur all time ODI greats? On the other hand how many times Sehwag faced Wasim+Waqar attack? Both played together only once, so Sehwag started vs Pak right since Anwar left vs Ind, and that match was exactly the one when Wasim & Waqar bowled last time in their career, though Pakistan lost it but interestingly it was the ONLY time when: Anwar faced Zaheer attack: Scored 100 & Sehwag faced Wasim+Waqar attack: Could score 20 something The fact is Anwar played in times u had best of ur bowling attack and Sehwag is playing right since downfall started in our bowling attack...

Old guy Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Baita jao daikho koi barra ghar pey hey? bade ki jarurat nhi its common sense aap log h toh kehte ho we have gr8 bowling line up (even now :P ) and tht indians cant even produce one good bowler so runs scored against gr8 bowlers > indian bowlers no ? also see the strike rate difference sehwag is much better then anwar ever was also dont even think abt giving excuse of conditions cos he was pretty much shyte in tough conditions
CoverDrive Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I would concede this one to Anwar - he was better in ODI's than Sehwag compared to Tests. Sehwag has the world record but even he would agree that he has under-performed in ODI's compared to what his potential is. simple comparision is Yuvraj vs. Sehwag and Yuvraj is a bigger matchwinner for us in ODI's wheras he is nowhere in Tests
panther Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Fully agree. Just look at the nerve of that guy to compare a legend like Sehwag with a flat track bully Anwar! It's insulting to cricket fans' intelligence everywhere and joke threads like these devalue this forum. A better comparison should have been between Anwar and Sohail' date=' or Anwar and Nick Knight.[/quote'] :hysterical: sehwag is the biggest ftb to pick up a cricket bat.
Ultimate_Game Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 :hysterical: sehwag is the biggest ftb to pick up a cricket bat. Says the fan of a guy known as "Desert Fox" :hysterical: If you take out Sharjah as the venue I think Anwar might be averaging in 20s :giggle: As for Sehwag, I doubt Anwar would be able to play the sort of innings Sehwag has played outside or in teh subcontinent... SC - 2 triples and multiple doubles all scored at run a ball :hatsoff: Outside SC - 100s in SA, Aus, Eng. I doubt Anwar managed a 100 in SA or Aus in his whole career :haha: Just coz Sehwag so stupendous in the SC doesn't mean he didn't do anything outside SC and something which Anwar & Pakis could only dream of :cantstop:
