Sid Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 Rohit Sharma will have to perform this time around. He is again been given the preference over batsmen like Rahane,ManojTiwari,Rayudu,Saurabh Tiwari etc.If doesnt perform this time also, please let him score in IPL only then.
rkt.india Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 ^May be but generally 2 WKs are picked for away tours' date='cant fault the selectors there.[/quote'] two Wk when it is a full fledged tour...it is only 5 ODis...we didnt even have 2 wks in WC...some selections are very rubbish...too many tried and tested failures...PK's fitness is also suspicious...
Sid Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 Vinay Kumar is the only tried and tested failure in this ,I would have also prefered Varun Aaron in place of him,may be his latest slinga ball swung the balance in his favour :P
vvvslaxman Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 How the fark does Saha keep making it to the squad :wall: His selection has absolutely no merit. IPL hardly played. Played only 3 first class matches this season List A record 2011 5 innings 135 runs 33.75 avge 66.17 strike rate
rkt.india Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Vinay Kumar is the only tried and tested failure in this ' date='I would have also prefered Varun Aaron in place of him,may be his latest slinga ball swung the balance in his favour :P[/quote'] Amit Mishra is a fail in ODIs
rkt.india Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 ^Ek player toh East Zone se banta hai boss :P why not Manoj Tiwary
King Tendulkar Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Rohit Sharma will have to perform this time around. He is again been given the preference over batsmen like Rahane' date='ManojTiwari,Rayudu,Saurabh Tiwari etc.If doesnt perform this time also, please let him score in IPL only then.[/quote'] Totally outscored all of the above in Ranji. And outscored them in IPL
Sid Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 Amit Mishra is a fail in ODIs I said earlier I would have prefered Rahul over him.
Sid Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 Totally outscored all of the above in Ranji. And outscored them in IPL But I hope he breaks his usual trend this time and scores big runs in the series.
Sooda Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Yes, he is not international class. No point is investing more time on him. Vaday or Aaron or some other newbie would have been better choice. Saha is another baffling selection. This guy seems to having all the luck in the world. Played a test match as pure batsman in arguably India's best ever test batting line up. That was purely because of a selctorial farce. From what I hear he is a good keeper and an ok bat, Im sure the idea is that for at least one ODI Parthiv will play as a pure batsman and he will keep Im glad Vinay is there, at least give him the chance to fail he deserves it based on domestic record, tho mmaayybee Yadav should have edged it I was hoping Gambhir would have been rested the guy is so important for the test team and has knee trouble!! As others have said one spinner too mayne...Maybe the squad needs another opener - Rahane ??!!
Brainfade Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Why did they ignore Pujara? :(( Pujara is badly hurt. He may be out 6 - 9 months.
Andy Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 How the fark does Saha keep making it to the squad :wall: Because He is from :csk: :P
Andy Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 why not Manoj Tiwary If Saha can get chance, why cant Manoj? Exactly my point.
Andy Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 But I hope he breaks his usual trend this time and scores big runs in the series. This guy is a domestic Bully.
mishra Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 what about Aaron. I guess they could have given a chance to him ob carribean tour if they want him for English summer
Sidhoni Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Rahul sharma should have been there for Mishra and manoj tiwary for saha.
Blueraphael Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Decent enough squad. IMO, Saha was a good enough choice as a backup keeper. I don't expect him to get a game unless Parthiv is injured or its a dead rubber. In fact, I am actually happy to see a specialist keeper rather than a batsman who keeps. The fourth seamer, Vinay Kumar's spot could have gone to someone like Sreesanth or a young upcoming fast bowler. Anyway, again I don't expect him to make into the 11. Mishra and Ojha must have had a tussle for that spot. Given that Mishra had a good domestic year AND he is a wrist spinner, it was acceptable that he is in a sqaud. As for the batting, there were two spots up for grabs, that of Rohit and Badri. Although I would have played Rayadu instead of Rohit, its would only be becoz Sharma had a whole lot of chances. Don't have much of a problem with this selection. Overall, will expect to win the series unless they recall Gayle and he goes berserk in a match or two. Even if Chandrapaul does come in, wouldn't make much of a difference as even in the best of times, he is a grafter.
Karan114 Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Very surprised by Saha's selection - even though his List A record is decent (average 40, SR 77) but giving Rahane a chance instead of a second keeper would have been more sensible. Not overly fussed with the rest of the squad though if Rohit Sharma flops yet again then he should be axed for a good long while - the likes of Rahane are far more deserving of a run of games in the Indian team.
