I dont remember seeing any such news. :hmmm: Were there any news reports on the internet? I cant seem to find any
I too cant find any right now and the news was also not shown on many channels as it didn't get much footage on TV. I cannot be wrong as since then Kaneria has started using Muslim words while giving interviews or other chats, pretty much like yusuf started after his convert.

It happened 2-3 years back. I watched the news on TV. cant find the source though. but I am pretty sure about it and he did it without informing his family.
And that channel was India TV whch ran that program on the basis that Danish Kaneria often uses the words 'Inshallah' and 'Masaallah'. Now judge for yourself the IQ level of those dimwits at India TV.

Muhammad Kaif,Irfan Pathan,Wasim Jaffer....Also wrong religion, wrong country
Good, then show me any one other than muslims playing for Pakis. I thknk Danish is a christian and he has not converted yet. He needs to do so ASAP if he wants to play for the Pakis. What about Munaf, Yosuf and Zaheer? You are a DA.

Kaneria is Hindu but thats not the problem for Pakistan, his spot fixing allegations is the problem and Pakistan cannot have another trouble maker in their team. Plus they have Ajmal who is slightly better.

Associating religion with Kanria's selection is utter rubbish. Kaneria did play more than 60 tests for Pakistan and it shows that the selectors never had a problem with his religion.

Com'on Guys, its utter rubbish to associate religion with Kaneria selection issue and it’s too disappointing to read such comments from you guys because even all of you know very well religion is absolutely not an issue here in Pakistan cricket and I know its not even in Indian cricket. PCB might have 10s of flaws in selection process but religion is NEVER any issue, Yousuf played for 10 years as a Christian and had same respect all those times what he had after conversion, rather he's been in more troubles since converted, new religion didn’t favored him anything extra. Similarly Kaneria; I have not followed much of his spot fixing issue but he was a permanent Test team member till he was doing well. Now for a moment even if we ignore his spot fixing issue, he would still struggle to make a come-back because of his poor last performances, now everybody knows Ajmal is expected to do much better.

Agree, thread probably taking a wrong turn, but now just to be a hypocrite; Yousuf benefited big time after his conversion, infact Yuosuf converting was a prerequisite for Pak captaincy. It would have been unpalatable for Islamic Republic of Pakistan's population to have their beloved cricket team led by Yusuf Youhana, which is fair enough. So please lets keep things in perspective.

Religion does play a huge role in the Pakistan team, it became so during Inzi's era when a lot of players became followers (is that the right word?) of the Tableeghi Jamaat - Inzi, Saeed Anwar etc. But Kaneria's selection has nothing to do with religion and it would be wrong to call it discrimination. He is an average bowler and the only thing he brings to the table is that he is a leggie in a team which already has an offie in Rehman/Ajmal/Hafeez.

Absolutely correct. No conversion no captaincy. India has had several religions as captains - Paks never. Most intolerant country in the world.
