He doesn't look good enough for international cricket right now IMO. :agree: Varun was the most impressive young fast bowler In IPL. Though only played 3 games and took only 3 wickets, but stats dont tell true story always. In 231 match against KXIP, he was the second best bowler after Morkal form both sides. He was the best fast bowler from both sides in the Match agaisnt Chennai and was again good against KXIP in Dharmshala where was unlucky not to have many wickets a drop catch also. Batsmen were also finding him tough to hit and was bowling quick. If he had played more matches, we could have got more clue but DD never stick to a combination...changed team in every match. Yes, Delhi somehow never managed the winning combination this year. It was always because of one or two individual performance that they got wins under their be;t, but as a team, they have been very poor and the Points Table just shows that. And yes, may be he was impressive, but 3 games is not enough to judge however well he may have performed. Although Valthaty is one of the Top 5 runs scorers today, how many are actually impressed with him ? May be a handful, not one who watch Cricket with great conviction.

Talking about swing, well fast bowlers are meant to swing the ball, no ? However, Wankhede track have always had some lateral movement for the quicks, so he used the conducive conditions well I guess.

He only played a few matches and done well in most. His economy was not bad too. You do not expect young bowlers to bowl like experience campaigners..Even ZAK didn't bowl that well in any of the IPL if I say. Because T20 is toughest game for bowlers and only bowlers like Malinga can be consistent, even he got thrashing in quite a few matches. Kulkarni did show he is not bad at all.

You are thinking only T20 perspective and I am not. I have seen he has good potential to be an ODI or test bowler. This T20 is to just see the young players play.

Among pacers...Varun, Umesh yadav and Abu Nachim are the real Talent and one needs to burture them ahead of arvind, Vinay Kumar, dhwal and a few others...I am damn happy about ishant and Zak...Zak was moving a couple of balls like a spinner at 136K pace..it looked kinda out of the world stuff. Varun umesh and even abu have the talent and they need to be groomed and trained and become smart n a bit clever. Arvind n vinay are clever bowlers but the headmaster of the school called being clever is Pravin Kumar and guys,,,, praveen is a bowler with limited talent but great shrewdness... Still he has hardly achieved much in international Cricket as these bowlers only ball well with the new ball and are opened up when they come back in second spell Don't u guys AGREE I mean groom real talent to become shrewd n clever and u will get FINAL product
