This is NOT a Dhoni v/s Sachin vs anyone comparison thread. So please dont make it one. Just sharing a tweet I saw last night

Indian Cricket: Whatever whoever does - if #win praise Dhoni else if #lose blame Sachin
Posted

If we lose then it's Dhoni who gets all the blame. Just go visit the match threads or some other threads created after we lost to SA in the WC or when we tied the England match. I don't think Sachin has been blamed for any of our defeats recently. He did get a lot of flak for the losses when we were losing badly and he was struggling with his injuries in 2005-06.

only captain is blamed when loses and credited when wins. No one else. No one gets more accolade than SRT in the world.:two_thumbs_up:

Thats true. A lot of criticism was there for Dhoni after the tie against England and loss against South Africa in the world cup. Also, Sachin also got a lot of flak after the 2007 early exit

Dood,Sachin is always blamed whether he plays or not . like when he is not playing people say "sachin nahin kel raha tha tabhi har gaye "when he is playing woo aaj accha nahin kela isliye har gaye and now ussne century bana lee isliye har gaye " Whatever happens to the he is always the culprit if india loses lol

Not true. It was GC and RD who got the flak. It was well known that GC moved Sachin down the batting order.

^ Sachin got a lot of flak too. I remember there were so many calls for his retirement but he bounced back. Chappel was an idiot to try and shuffle the batting order and then question Sachin's commitment

Dhoni deserves all the praises he gets and being a captain, he will also get a large part of the blame when things don't go his way - it's not fair, but it comes with the package. Sachin actually does not get as much blame as it looks like. There are a handful who make a lot of noise, but the majority actually love him. Most of those who blame him are attention seekers who do it for the sake of it.

People have such short term memory. Dhoni has got more than his share of criticism in the past few years. All kinds of accusations have been hurled at him. Cant even begin to think the crap he would have got had india lost the final. Its all part of the circus i guess

Albie said during one of the match about Dhoni talking tough. Dhoni is cool outside. We never know what he talks to the team. But he manages to galvanize his team towards playing with purpose.

What a ridiculous tweet or comment, this seems to be work of a frustrated Sachin fanboy who wants to say Sach should get as much credit as Dhoni is getting. Its the captain who gets the stick when his not doing well and he gets all the praises when his team does well.

What a ridiculous tweet or comment' date='this seems to be work of a frustrated Sachin fanboy who wants to say Sach should get as much credit as Dhoni is getting. Its the captain who gets the stick when his not doing well and he gets all the praises when his team does well.[/quote'] I dont think anyone is asking for credit for Sachin for anything other than his individual performances. It is understandable that the captain gets credit for team performances and also the stick for losses. I think the context for this tweet was when India played in the 90s when our whole team batting depended solely on sachin. If he fired, we managed to win else we lost. at that time Sachin used to get blamed for most losses even if 10 other players failed. Post 2002-era, the team steadily improved so the batting is no longer a one man show and others are capable of performing too.

^^Not really, i think the context is the past few games where people have been complaining about india losing when Sachin scores a century and so on and so forth.

This team is the most mentally strong team India has ever fielded. I have to say Dhoni played a major role in India achieving that. Apart from the word "ofcourse" there is another phrase i have heard from Dhoni throughout his career. "I wanted to prove a point". After world T20 semi final 2007 this is what he has to say to Ravi shastri who summarily wrote India off before the clash against Australia, http://www.espncricinfo.com/twenty20wc/engine/match/287878.html Mahendra Singh Dhoni "Before I start I should say I read an article by you in Cricinfo. You'd said Australia were the favourites. Today I think me and the boys, we proved you wrong." Well, there you go, India's Twenty20 and ODI captain reads Cricinfo. And apparently it's inspired him. On the job his bowlers did: "We didn't have bowlers of extraordinary pace but they bowled right areas. Some of our bowlers didn't have that much pace. Like Joginder Sharma. People said he'd go for runs. He did really well today, bowling sensibly." "We played without fear. If we play like this, with everyone supporting each other we're going to win more matches than we lose. We need to enjoy ourselves when we go out to the middle" This is what he had to say after 2011 world cup final Dhoni: "I took a quite few decisions tonight, if we hadn't won I would have been asked quite a few questions: Why no Ashwin, Why sreesanth. Why no Yuvraj, Why did I bat ahead?! That pushed me and motivated to do well. The pressure had got to me in the previous games. In this game, I wanted to bat up the order and Gary backed me and by the senior players. I had a point to prove to myself. Virat and Gautam batted brillantly; lots of singles. Then with the help of bit of dew , we put pressure on the spinners. I would have liked Gautam to go on and get that big hundred." He could throw in the towel so many occasions and resigned to himself "I did my part others didn't". But he never did that. He took us all the way to the finish line. Be it is drawn test against Engladn at Lords, be a ODI against Bangladesh, Be it is IPL game at Dharmsala. It is this incorrigible self-belief that i have not seen in any Indian players past or present is driving Dhoni. It is bound to be infectious.

We blame Dhoni more during defeat than Sachin. :dontknow: On most occasions we also blame our bowlers. We have hardly blamed Sachin for any defeats. :hmmmm:
