tatters Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 The selectors surely must look for some genuinely quick bowlers. There is simply no substitute for pace. Ishant Sharma should be doing more with his physique but he seems almost apologetic about his height.
Sachinism Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Vinay Ko-Mar Had a brilliant 1st spell. Lost the plot later on.
gaurav92 Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Vinay Kumar is not a death bowler. If the captain has some brainfarts and give him the ball in the end, you can't blame him for not performing. On numerous occasions when the ball is handed over to him in the last few overs, he has leaked runs right, left and center. I remember his performance against Australia at Vizag where White tore him apart. So some bowlers are not made for death bowling - Praveen Kumar, Vinay Kumar and Sreesanth. If you give the ball in wrong hands, you are going to pay heavily. Yes I agree that a bowler should be able to bowl at the start and come back in the end as well, but seriously, if you know the quality of bowler and the strength of the bowler you have picked, you must also know, whether he can be trusted in the death overs or not ? In my opinion, Raina missed the trick there by giving him the ball, but he really had no other option barring going with him. So in a nutshell, Vinay Kumar is a decent swing bowler, but not a death bowler due to lack of control over his deliveries and also not many wicket taking deliveries (good bouncer, yorkers etc.( in the arsenal.
rkt.india Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Problem is yo cannot hide pacer because his is not good in death overs when you only 2 pacers playing in the team. Selectors need give long run to potentially talents bowlers who has ingredients of being a fast bowler. They may not do that well at the start, but in long run with exprience they will much better bowler than what Vinay Kumar is. Bowlers like Aaron, Sudeep Tyagi, Yadav who has pace and bounce must get more chances to develop at international level
achilles Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 RP Singh needs to be on the plane to England. Those are the kinda conditions he will relish playing in.
achilles Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 As for Vinay, this is a very harsh thread. The lad had given away 26 runs in 8 overs. 1 bad over doesn't make him a nitwit, for Zaheer has had many in his youth.
saneindian Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Too harsh. How many ODIs has he played? Bowled very well initially. And came in the death overs when the match was nearly done.
Sidhoni Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 He bowled brilliantly initially but pressure took toll on him in his last over. Very Harsh on him to say so.
nitinbwj Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Vinay Malinga Epic:fail:..Koomar.. :finger::finger::finger:
Pagalpanti Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Its certainly because of this that our country isn't producing good enough fast bowlers. When players like Aaron, Dinda miss out for MFS(medium fast spinner) no one would try and become a fast bowler.
asterix Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 No Dinda please..VK, Dinda,etc are same trundlers..
jeeves Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 vinay kumar is hardly a fast bowler.....all he knows is to bowl super slow deliveries.....guess kumble was faster than him
desi pride 1234 Posted June 17, 2011 Author Posted June 17, 2011 i will not watch cricket if vinay plays again for india.Just saw a thread from ppassion that he is the worst bowler to play international cricket.
Cricket Tragic Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 i will not watch cricket if vinay plays again for india.Just saw a thread from ppassion that he is the worst bowler to play international cricket. :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: A bit extreme.
King Tendulkar Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 People wonder why i champion speedsters like Sree and RP and Aaron and Yadav. They are suited for international cricket. and should be groomed. Vinay Kumar is pathetic and a disgrace he opens the bowling and plays for India. Bloody number crunchers pull up his stats and think he is ok. He is rubbish, use the cricket eye, he has nothing to offer at international level. Made me cry seeing losers like him play for India. Looks like he has taken over from loser crapthan and Unadkat. Why the hell do selctors pick these 75mph losers.
phaedrus Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 fast bowlers who are breaking into the international scene need some sort of spark. speed or swing. this guy has neither. just boring, boring, boring. you look at him bowl and you know he has no future. its players like these that kill interest in the game
Serani Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Wouldnt make most 1st division county sides. Also looks a tiny mofo.

jairamesh Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 I found it hilarious, when Bishop (i think) was comparing Vinay Kumar's run-up and non-bowling arm action to Jason Gillespie, and at point of release he said "that's where all similarities end" :hysterical:
