Dhoni slams Harper for poor decisions

I hope not. But If Punter is there I would be really bothered.. Punter will use all the tactics.. We are no match to that guy. He can put pressure on umpire at will, Wind up batsman, Bowler, Team,BCCI and even media and can easily get away with it.... He can even plan a match ban or so for young opponent players. One has to admire his shrewdness...

I remember an Adelaide ODI. Tiny little ground at the time (construction was going on) by the Indians copped unrelenting abuse left right and centre. They lost a game they should have won. In the end, they copped abuse from both the Australian and Indian media -- This was the ODI in 07/08, India folded to 150 all out in response to a target of 200.

Man despite all the hype of Ashes, All the world cup performance... Aussies can be never ruled out as long as that Punter is there..... He learned it from the best. Few days back I heard Warne. He was advising English, it is never all about cricket and quality of bowlers... Must remember, There are 11 of you and there are two of them or at times one of them.... I am sure Ponting will be missed long after he is gone.

How are you guys so sure that Hawk eye is 100 % perfect ? Just because its a new technology, everyone is supposed to automatically adopt it, is it ? BCCI officials have already said they were not satisfied with the accuracy of the technology. I dont think any of you people have seen how Hawk eye works first hand. So how can you vouch for it ?

^no its accurate. BCCI is not happy with inconsistency. For example, if ball is clipping the leg stump and umpire has given not out, it stays not out. And if it happens again, if ball is clipping the leg stump, same umpire gives out, its referred and it stays out. So there is lack of consistency. Both should be either out or not out.

^^Whatever it is, there are clearly issues to be sorted out before they can depend on technology in such an important test series otherwise we will end up with controversies like the Ian Bell incident in the World Cup. btw, if Hawk eye is so accurate, why do they have the rule where the decision rests with the on field umpire if the batsman is struck 2.5 meters in front of the wickets ? I just think there is something fishy with this Hawk eye technology. Snickometer and Hotspot are fine though.

 WTF BCCI is doing? You cant be against UDRS if You dont have plan to make umpires at the same time.... Then we need one... BCCI D$£&%*" listen. You cant be lazy and a kn*%$ at the same time

Dhoni needs to STFU. We didn't take the UDRS because we wanted to rely more on the umpires' competency. We can't complain now.
Stop whining ' date=' this is embarrassing especially when BCCI and Indian players are not accepting the UDRS because it is not 100%.[/quote'] So guys, can you please tell us how could UDRS have helped in 1.Dhoni decision decision? 2.Bravo and Chanders decision? Hence stop being a hypocrite yourself and try to understand and analyse the situation first before coming at a conclusion. UDRS or not, an umpire HAS to take 96-98 % correct decision where Harper failed miserably in this match I suppose. I just don't understand why he should not be criticised for his mistakes, even if India had not opted for UDRS.

No it was Gould. Later camera caught that Gould and Harper discussing the height. Gould and Harper both seemed to agree that Ball was still rising and on Bishoos chest at the time when ball went past him

I didn't watch the game Chandan but the larger point remains valid: Umpires get it wrong from time and time and the DRS will minimize that margin. And honestly, what is this nonsense about getting umpires sacked? That just reeks of sheer thuggery.

Bravo would have been out. The edge was visible on replay. Raina would not have been out since there was enough evidence to overrule the umpire. As for Chanders, which one are you talking about ? As for criticism, yes ofcourse he has right to do so, but there was technology available as a resort. It is equivalent to a run out scenario where inspite of the technology the team chooses to ignore it and umpire gets it wrong. Dhoni and Bcci deserve all the flak they get and more because they are insulating the very technology that can prevent these errors. So, yes Dhoni has right to criticize but there is more than enough scope to criticize his criticism.

The only legitimate quote in the entire article is "If correct decisions were made, the game would have ended much earlier and we would have been in the hotel by now" - rest are all attributed to 'unnamed sources and cricketers'

I don't believe that the players said about getting the umpires sacked. Just notice that none of the players have been named. So it might well have been the media agency writing as a senior cricketer. But frankly, the UDRS, without hotspot wouldn't have helped much us much here. So I'm not at all regretful that we didn't have it here. It wouldn't have minimized any error. The day hot spot is availavale everywhere, I suppose there should be no harm in embracing DRS.
