ganeshran Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Everyone (except BCCI) wants DRS but no one wants to pay for it. The boards have the option to go for it, then cough up the dough
vayuu1 Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Guys we have to admit udrs although has helped in changing decisions which earlier were not given in favour of batsman or the bowler, but there has been instance like kallis dissmisalvabd Dravid hotspot controversy as well ,therefore I have made this thread on improvements that can be done to improve udrs.please share ur thoughts and mods please make it a sticky.
kruiser Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Remove the third umpire. Show the DRS replays on big screen and give voting meters to teh crowd and commentators. Let them decide Out or not. :giggle:
Pagalpanti Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 DRS should be totally independent from on-field umpire. All this BS that if evidence is not enough go with/against on-field umpire decision. Its ridiculous if a ball is hitting a stump but given not out just because its clipping and not hitting the stumps fully. DRS is here to stay but its application needs an overhaul.
Sir_Afridi Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Bring back hawk eye. ICC should also make sure neutral people process the footage of hawk eye who feeds it to the 3rd umpire. Lessons should be learned from Ajmal-Sachin saga.
Number Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Bring back hawk eye. ICC should also make sure neutral people process the footage of hawk eye who feeds it to the 3rd umpire. Lessons should be learned from Ajmal-Sachin saga. :giggle:

Lessons should be learned from Ajmal-Sachin saga. Hawk eye is used in this series and a neutral umpire decided todays decisions. Stop crying !!! Pak are world cup chokers :haha:
jairamesh Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 DRS needs to get snicko in. Could have stopped a wrong decision being given against Kallis today.
superstar Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 ^^ apparently it takes a few minutes for snicko to get the results. That is why it is not part of DRS.
Mariyam Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Bring back hawk eye. ICC should also make sure neutral people process the footage of hawk eye who feeds it to the 3rd umpire. Lessons should be learned from Ajmal-Sachin saga. What Ajmal Sachin saga?
superstar Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 What Ajmal Sachin saga? Pakistani friends are still bitter with the sachin decision in the world cup.
jairamesh Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 ^^ apparently it takes a few minutes for snicko to get the results. That is why it is not part of DRS. True. Nevertheless, DRS needs to be implemented for all, at least in basic form, i.e. hi-resolution videos.
Ultimate_Game Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 What Ajmal Sachin saga? Pakis lost in the WC to India as usual and found this time round they found the 3rd umpire decision as the scape goat :haha: 1. In 92 it was coz Pakis didn't care and won the WC 2. In 96 Akram "fixed" the match 3. in 99 it was excuse 1 as Pakis reached the finals, and some Pakis thought it was reason #2 4. In 2003 it was reason #2 (fixing) 5. In 2011 it was due to DRS :giggle: They always have an excuse ready no matter what. For T20s they have the following... 6. 2007 T20 Cup group game - It was not a loss even though India got 2 points and Pakis 0 :winky: 7. T20 Cup final - Excuse #2 (Misbah fixed the game)
Sean Bradley Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 One thing that really baffles me is that why cant any team call the shot at DRS without any restriction of 2 reviews. If we are getting techie then why not all out? Is it an attempt to secure the ove-rate or do we have any more "conditions applied" ?
Mr Eintstein Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Because everything would get referred, which would be boring and take forever. The aim is to eliminate only howlers, so the best way of doing that is putting the judgement in the player's hands but with restrictions.

The aim of the system is to eliminate howlers and not to gamble on 50-50 decisions.

He's pretty poor in deciding when to use DRS and ends up using his quota without any wickets. When batting primadonna oldies use up the quota while getting out. Hence the resistance to adopt the DRS.

Kaun sa primadonnas yaar! There is only one. I watched two series with DRS and India - the one in Sri Lanka and the WC. Dravid hardly referred any decision, Laxman was bowled most of the times, but given the "face" he makes I was surprised he did not refer those decisions. Anyways both of them are gone. Sehwag kya primadaonna, he is not even a Madonna - he should be told straight off not to use DRS. That leaves Tendulkar. And of course Dhoni.
