BeautifulGame Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Seems like Ottis Gibson(WI coach) is pretty ruthless. ESPNcricinfo ESPN Cricinfo Sarwan dropped for third Test? RT @ronniesarwan: Wishing the guys all the best in Dominica! Miami here I come. 50 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply Do you think its pretty harsh on Sarwan and would work in our favour? Personally felt he is too good a batsman to go quiet whole series and might always come back with a big hundred particularly as the pitch for 3rd test will very likely be very flat. He along with Chanderpaul are the ones i would say are more likely to score patient big hundreds in these flat pitches and him being dropped from the team makes it easier for us even if he is in poor form.
Karan114 Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 I wonder who they are going to replace him with - Gayle is out of favor, Nash has already been dropped and there isn't much else. I don't think it really makes a difference to us - Ishant has his number. If Dominica is a flat track, then one would expect most of the WI players including his replacement to score runs anyway.
Rana Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 They need to convince Gayle. this team is so slow when it comes to making runs. A rr of 2.5 is uncacceptable on a flat deck in the next Test.
suraj Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 What a stupid move by the Windies board; Sarwan (especially in the abscence of Gayle) is one of the few there that can stay for long in the middle in a test
Cricketics Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Even though he hasn't really be doing much, he is still better than most replacements which windies have got in past few years. They don't have any choice but to stick with Sarwan. Very very poor decision again from WICB SELECTORS
achilles Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 "Me and Sarwan sit down and talk after the World Cup. Sarwan was messed up mentally. The coach messed up the man mentally. The players were not in the right frame of mind." "Sarwan was batting without a free mind. Players told me they lost confidence. No confidence at all. A player speak his mind in team meeting openly... The player said his piece... After that, he never play a World Cup match. But me talk with my mouth and me talk with my bat."
asterix Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 It's Ottis Gibson..From the time he joined WI cricket, he has been working on systematically eleminating the senior players one by one..He's screwed WI cricket..
Sachin=GOD Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 They need to convince Gayle. this team is so slow when it comes to making runs. A rr of 2.5 is uncacceptable on a flat deck in the next Test. they don't need to convince Gayle. Its Gayle who needs to convince them to take him in the team.
DomainK Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 That is strange. They are not exactly rich with choices.
Cricket Tragic Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 If Sarwan makes 9000 test runs, Oxfam would get a bit of money. So, Sarwan should play to help fight global poverty in a tiny way.
desi pride 1234 Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 i found most indian origin players in foreign teams do well against india. but this time ishant got him many time because he bowled fast which no indian bowler used to do regularly. same with rampaul, he is getting the ball to bounce to indian players who suck at playing short pitch deliveries and getting them out. this is strange.
Ultimate_Game Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 This is what cricinfo had to say... Ramnaresh Sarwan, the West Indies batsman, has been dropped for the third and final Test against India in Dominica. Kieran Powell, a 21-year-old batsman from Leeward Islands, has been named as his replacement. Anyone has any idea who is this bloke? And can a WI fan share their insight as to who might be the front-runner to replace Sarwan in the 3rd Test? I think Roach may replace Edwards in the 3rd Test.
gult Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Good for us.. the wicket for third test may not be juicy like the one in barbados and jamaica. Brendan nash will be a good replacement
Show_stopper Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 They need to go for one of the Hinds brothers-Wavell or Ryan.
NareshK Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Good for us ? He was a walking wicket. I dont think his replacement will be any better though.:two_thumbs_up:
Ultimate_Game Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 IIRC Sarwan averaged 7 or thereabouts in this series. So that's a big loss for us. Essentially we lost a tailender to bowl at.
