punjabi_khota Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Wait, so is Gunner implying that the Indian military has not planned ANYTHING in the event of a nuclear strike at Delhi ? :hmmmm2: So they are like, ok we maybe one of the strongest military forces in the world, with stockpiles of nuclear and conventional bombs, shitload of missiles BUT if they strike at us @ Delhi, we give up. :phehehe: Cmon man, give them a little more credit. I can bet you anything there is a whole plan B,C,D till Z. Multiple command centres, multiple places to launch strikes from, multiple places where they are stored right now, all waiting for a signal. Hell I am sure, Pakistan has it too. I don't think India can take Pakistan out with one time strike.

I am just saying that a nuclear strike is so ghastly that even the best laid plans may not work out. The reason being no one has actually gone through a nuclear strike and has practical experience of how it pans out. This has nothing to do with the ability of our armed forces who I am sure are quite capable just the realities of a post nuclear strike could be far different from what we can imagine or simulate on a computer.
bihutoli Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 I can only hope that when the judgement day comes we fling the no first use policy out of the window and launch a pre emptive strike.

You could somehow justify war but for some reason a nuke strike looks something different. It not only kills (which is hard to justify in the first place) but also causes enormous harm to the enviornment (takes decades for the enviornment to become normal again) I hate it that Pakistan is putting India in such a position where eventually it will have to go to war. It's a sick scenario where Pakistan is not only using India to keep itself going but also trying to drag Ind (which tries to avoid war and wants to go on with its business) to its low level History is full of examples where a peace-loving nation is forced into a war. And if you don't fight it, you could end up like Tibet .... The great Mahabharata and Ramayana also tell us about how the good is forced into a war with the evil. Even Gods w/ all their powers cannot make the evil good peacefully and have to fight it to end it, then who are we mere mortals. A very tough decision awaits us.

It will have to be a different kind of war. Not sure whether the Nukes is the right way to think. But really I think India has to just play the catalyst in breaking of Pakistan. I am sorry but in my current mindset I see no reason for that country to exist although I dont want the innocents to be harmed. BUT all said and done we have to keep on our path of growth and development and raise the lives of millions in India. In your words, we cannot be dragged to their levels. It has to be a different kind of combat.
asterix Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 You guys are talking about retaliatory/first Nuke strikes.. :hysterical: Why discuss something which is never gonna happen? You need "G Mein dum" and heavy International stature/International Political presence to even contemplate a strike. Looking at the political will of the nation, the probability of crying & running to USA/UN after a Nuke strike from Pakistan is more.. Even if you somehow plan to do a "first strike" what will happen to the vote bank politics?

zen Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 The emphasis of our politicians is more on filling their bank accounts .... that's why they enter politics :P
zen Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 http://zeenews.india.com/news/exclusive/what-every-kashmiri-jihadi-should-know_719501.html ^ a good read According to Gitanjali Bakshi, the author of the report, “Pakistani militant groups as well as right-wing newspapers are constantly using ‘water’ in their flamboyant displays of saber rattling. On March 2nd, 2011, chief of Jamaat-ud-Dawa’s political wing Prof. Abdul Rahman Makki said that Pakistanis would have to be ready for every kind of sacrifice in order to end the Indian control over water (Daily Pak). The Editor-in-Chief of right wing Urdu newspaper Nawa-i-Waqt, Majid Nizami, says on a regular basis that Pakistan should use its nuclear arsenal to destroy Indian dams that bloc the flow of water into Pakistan.†But these speeches, she says, are not based on fact: “India has given up close to 80% of the Indus Waters in the 1960 treaty; it is well below the storage capacity permitted on the Western Rivers under the IWT and it has only built run-of the-river dams which it is permitted to do – a fact conceded to by former Pakistani Water Commissioner Jamaat Ali Shah.†Wouldn't nuking Indian dams contaminate the water flowing into Pakistan :hmmmm:

CSK Fan Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 We dont have the guts to chase a target against WI because of fear of losing a match. And we are talking of striking back at another country? My contribution to the retarded posts thread
yoda Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 why are you guys talking about Pakistan and nukes when in this case their involvement isn't established? A more useful discussion is on how we can tackle the local support for these activities.

someone Posted July 14, 2011 Author Posted July 14, 2011 I have one question which I really do not know the answer Why is it that the Indian Internet population when discussing about these issues, always critizes the government yet the same government wins election time and time again with big margin(Mumbai people voting Congress after 26/11). Why is it that there is such a "diverse" opinion here and elsewhere in India?
Guest Gunner Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 why are you guys talking about Pakistan and nukes when in this case their involvement isn't established? A more useful discussion is on how we can tackle the local support for these activities. The general perception is that the Pakistani set up breeds terrorists with or without state support who then infiltrate India and cause havoc thi is why every discussion ends up with Pakistan as a part of it. Regardng nukes, please thank ganeshran @ post 46 for setting that ball rolling. :haha::haha:
Guest Gunner Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 I have one question which I really do not know the answer Why is it that the Indian Internet population when discussing about these issues, always critizes the government yet the same government wins election time and time again with big margin(Mumbai people voting Congress after 26/11). Why is it that there is such a "diverse" opinion here and elsewhere in India? Because people don't vote just on the issue of terrorism, they vote for the local guy. Most Indians don't consider federal policy making like external affairs etc to detemine their vote. Secondly, a lot of informed and educated people (including me) don't vote. Lastly, what are your choices?
akshayxyz Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 I think only solution is - make a city of virgins with rivers of wine and tonnes of coke/hash and give free ticket to all the jehadis.
Lurker Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Why is it that the Indian Internet population when discussing about these issues, always critizes the government yet the same government wins election time and time again with big margin(Mumbai people voting Congress after 26/11). Why is it that there is such a "diverse" opinion here and elsewhere in India? Two reasons: a) The vast majority of "critic" tend to be the migrated birds who have moved on to greater pastures abroad and retain this nauseous tendency to judge those who are fighting the daily grind back home. It is easy to be an IT coolie in San Francisco who spends 8 hours at work everyday on computer yapping away, very different to that of a Professor struggling back home in Bangalore wondering how would he be able to buy a house in this decade of inflation...never mind the fact that Professor is probably 10 times as much educated. b) On an average we are a nation of what Amartya Sen calls "Argumentative Indian". There are good sides to it but the bad side is we tend to just be loud mouths a lot of time. Having lived and worked in West for a while one thing is fairly common, to work with someone or group of folks who have been part of Armed Forces, a cop, a Marine whatever. How often do you find a colleague who was in Indian Air Force? probably none. Without being cynical, we do tend to have a lot of gentry who have never so much as desired to become a part of National Institution, Armed Service or otherwise, but feel they are entitled to become an expert on the issue and run amok. xxx
