Only way Yuvraj can make to X1

Just saw this thread. I have nothing against Mukund and I am also not a great fan Yuvraj, the Test player. However considering the importance of the Series and the first Test, I would really be happy to see Dravid opening (stop gap, till Sehwag returns) so that Yuvraj could get in. Admittedly, we hasn't had a a good game against Somerset. However, he is in the form of his life in the ODIs and is also much more mature and hungry to do well in Tests. Might be worth taking the punt. Mukund's time will come. He is young.

why not Sachin open the inning. He is the most technically sound batsman. Moreover He has already been opening in one days for almost 15-16 years. And he adapts to situation quickly by changing his game.

Yes' date=' change the entire batting order so that savior Yuvraj can be accommodated.[/quote'] We did that once in Aus and it cost us the series. Dravid is a no. 3 bat and not an opener. Mukund is an opener and should play the role. And for folks pinning their hopes on Sehwag as some sort of silver bullet, not gonna happen. Most probably Sehwag will not even take part in the series.

Yuvraj should open with Harbhajan. A double barreled attacking left hand right hand Punjabda opening duo. Cant go wrong. They should then open the bowling.

I wont mind Yuvi Opening, but he has to be positive. Either go with your shots or just don't play. Mukund won't survive Anderson :(. not saying Yuvi will, but atleast he will cancel out that with taking wicket of Piterson. Piterson plays like a tailender to left arm slow bowlers.

Is if Mukund fails in first test and Sehwag isn't ready by 2nd. Most likely Sehwag won't be there in 2nd test either. But, Can Dhoni Surprise us all?? and Play Yuvi as opener? With Gambhir. Anyone remember the 2008 tour to Australia? Dravid was made to open in first 2 test and a lot of people felt that before the series, Yuvraj might turn up as opener with Jaffer since Dravid no. 3 slot will remain with him. But it didn't happen. I won't be surprised if Yuvraj plays actually and Mukund is dropped for the first test.
If Yuvi is played as an opener and he decides to take first strike, then Anderson and Tremlett are going to have a major fight about who bowls the first over :winky: No disrespect - I think he is a great limited overs player, but his attitude seems too casual for Test cricket and his technique is not up to the mark.

Great idea.Maybe Praveen Kumar can come in at no.3.Relentless assault on England.

Yuvraj has never played the swinging ball well and i feel even his fans have to think hard before suggesting an inns when he did well in swinging condns. He didnt have a good season for yorkshire in 2003(though old must be seen in context) when he was rested by the home team as he had scored 111 runs from 8 inns at 15.85). He was also no good in australiain 2007-08.So i Feel Raina is a better bet than him(atleast he has runs under his belt) and is not coming from a long layoff.Yuvrajs duck against somerset doest inspire much confidence so i feel he has no chance of getting a spot unless Raina plays badly in first 2 tests.
