Mishra is no better!!

For those of who are suggesting(including me) to drop harbhajan and play mishra, will do no good. Mishra bowls tons of no balls and doesn't contain the batsmen either. I actually want Ojha to fly over to England and then play but that won't be of use since he will be short of match practice. Should we play Yuvraj as a spinner? Or stick with Harbhajan?

Mishra might turn out to be worse option than Bhajji. Munaf would be better option. Yuvraj can be a good option as an spinner. But he should come in place of a batsman and not as a bowler. Given a good mix of defensive field and men at catching positions he can do a better job for India.

If Mishra is worse than Bhajji and don't deserve to play, what 8i8s he doing there in England? Is he being a mere passenger... Point is selectors have selected 2 spinners based on their observations, it is logical to try other if one fails to deliver..

I think if Bhajji was going to be dropped it would've happened some time ago. We aren't going to abandon something we have steadfastly stuck with in the middle of a big series. More pertinent issue is who can challenge or get the guy out of the team medium to long-term. It's not like him being rubbish is an anomaly...we have had plenty of time to think about this. Selectors are happy to play musical chairs with the spinners with one notable exception..

Munaf won't last a test match and we'll be down to 3 bowlers again.
Good news is that we already have an excuse thread in that case. :hysterical:

well if he breaks down he can bowl his quick off spinners, that way we don't miss bhajji.

I believe the same, Mishra is not going to be any better. BUT, getting dropped for a test will put fire under Bhajji's belly. He WILL come back better in the 3rd test. But I don't think it's going to happen mainly because Bhajji was unlucky in this test and would have picked 1/2 wickets if things went this way. It is Dhoni who missed a chance in his bowling, so may be Dhoni will feel obligated to give Bhajji a chance again. Thing working against Bhajji - he takes time to bowl, so our over rate becomes slow. Mishra will help with that, don't know whether that'll play into Dhoni's equation.

Mishra may turn out to be not as good but at least deserves a spot. Bhajji takes it for granted he's in the team at all times despite not doing justice to his automatic selection. It's good to try out other bowlers and keep Bhajji on the toes as well.

I'm inclined towards seamers in England. I would go for any seamer who is ready to pitch it up and can bowl tight line and lenth, no matter he gets a wicket or not. He should be able to at least restrict runs and provide support for his partners.

On what basis Mishra deserves a spot? It's actually the braindead selectors that are at fault here. They keep playing musical chairs with the spinners. Mishra, after a poor performance in the first test, he was dropped! When was he given a consistent run in the side? Same with Ohja. When was the last time he was given a consistent run of at least 5-7 test matches. You can't just expect some awe inspiring stuff from the spinners in 1-2 test matches.

Simple as that, it's no rocket science eh? Bhajji is no strike bowler now even in India, he's a bowler that can also bat a bit. I can't quite remember when was the last time he was looked up as a wicket taker.. maybe in NZ in 2009? I'm not even sure. Wonder when he got a 10 fer last? He's been playing international cricket for about 13 years now.

Lol on that basis so does Saha and as well as yuvraj deserves a spot. Mishra didn't do himself any favors when he was getting tonked around by somerset as well as bowling tons of no balls. He's been bowling no balls for over 2 years now.

Someone on ICF was suggesting to pick Murali Kartik. That's not a really bad idea. I mean, as far as I know, he was playing FC Cricket just 2-3 weeks ago. He's acclimatized to the conditions. He's a left arm spinner so he offers a variety in the bowling attack and it would be unexpected.

Mishra is the only alternative we have for the second test -- he cant do any worse than Dart. Should be ok taking a chance with him.

No body deserves to play more than him just a thorough gentleman and shows class all the time.
