msb1991 Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Best seamign alrounder in domestic cricket is Sumit Narwal. I like the look of him when he bowls. He just seems a bit short on speed for someone who does not extract a massive amount of movement. All eyes on Irfan Pathan's performance in the next domestic season, imo. As for spinners, well - I just hope that Jadeja and Abdulla continue to do well with bat and ball. England have shown the infinite value of having top quality batsman at eight and nine.
Cricket Tragic Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 How good is Abdulla's bowling? Does he give it a rip and flight the ball or is he another spinner who throws darts?

I wonder who the hell has suggested him to bowl with crooked thumb seam position. He has not get rid of it and that is why he is losing pace and control on his bowling that is rubbish stuff from coaches whoever told him to bowl like that and he is dumb.
Cricket Tragic Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 He is a person who spins the ball unlike our darty' date=',,,Dont you watch IPL?[/quote'] That's good. No, I don't watch the IPL. I hope that people aren't rating him as a test bowlers solely based on the circus. :nervous:

Mariyam Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Yuvraj SIngh is an all rounder. Maybe he should be mainstay in test matches. He can strengthen the lower middle order & take the odd wicket. Irfan Pathan was the other genuine option that we had. But he's totally lost it now.

Pathan's thumb position was always a matter of debate. When he was doing well, he still didn't have him thumb behind the ball like most seamers do. The talk then was about how that was causing him to lose pace but he said that he was comfortable with it. Has he changed it now?
Cricket Tragic Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 More of his prudentials... The uploader has not made this video available in your country.

Has he changed it now? I do not think he had crooked thumb seam position when he first came into the team. He changed it later i think since 2006 when he took a hattrick with that seam position, he continuously used it, but this seam position not good according to me. He will lose control and pace and also ball will swing but at low pace and from the hand, it won't be late swing like before he sued to get when he first came in 2004. He needs get rid of it and use simple seam position which most bowlers use. Until and unless he does that, he wont be very consistent in line and length and pace will be down too. http://www.indianetzone.com/photos_gallery/10/Irfan-Pathan1_4081.jpg look at this pic. It is from 2004 Aus tour I think and he has very decent seam position in this pic in comparison to what he has now which is rubbish. http://www.kingcricket.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/India/rpsingh.jpg Look at this. This is the best seam position. One more Pathan seam, position pic. This is worse. http://l.yimg.com/a/i/in/cricket/images/ss/pacer/jul28/116_irfan_bowl.jpg Look at the difference in these seam position in 3 pics.

Are there any pictures from 2005?

Trichromatic Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Best seamign alrounder in domestic cricket is Sumit Narwal. Not sure about him. Is he a good bowler? Yuvraj SIngh is an all rounder. Maybe he should be mainstay in test matches. He can strengthen the lower middle order & take the odd wicket. Irfan Pathan was the other genuine option that we had. But he's totally lost it now. I doubt that Yuvraj Singh can become a good 5th bowler in test. His skills are limited and in test matches players can easily play him safely. He has to do a lot with his batting also. Irfan Pathan is best prospect for India. If he can improve his bowling with his normal pace, then he should be brought back. Btw, what do we mean by an all-rounder for India in tests? Do we mean a 6 batsman including keeper, 1 all-rounder and 4 bowlers? In that case, the player has to a be good batsman who can get his place as batsman alone and bowling being a bonus. There is no such player atm. This will strengthen batting and bowling both. In case we want 7 batsman including keeper and 3 bowlers with 1 all-rounder. In this case, all-rounder has to be a genuine bowler who can get in the team with his bowling alone and can bat also. Irfan Pathan is one such player. But this case batting is stronger but bowling remains same. Certainly don't want a player who will average 25 with bat and just a mediocre bowler. This is not a possible option for test matches. There are some such players.
Sooda Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Narwal is late 20's and medium pacer who can bat a bit, certainly not international class. I do not think Iqbal is either. Will be interesting to see how he fares in EPT this year but for India A touring Eng last season he was not great. Hasnt really set the wicket takers charts alight. Could be useful ODI player but not sure about test class. In short there is no one.

Few players who look decent as all-rounder at FC can be fine in ODIs but test is different. Instead of searching for all-rounders in tests, if India can improve batting of few bowlers then it would be much better. PK looks like a candidate to me.

Decent striker but he lacks the balls to even get behind the line and fight it out. I love the way Karma puts a price on his wicket. His batting is a bit like Kumble in this regard.
Midfielder Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I am against all rounders. it is a specialist game and need specialists only.
