Sure' date=' let's try a completely different batting order after every lose. There's a reason why a batsmen feel comfortable in a certain position. They are not like chess pieces in a battle.[/quote'] I say why not. Most of these guys have great averages at every position. Anyway, it's been a silly thing that RD has been batting 1-down for the last 3 years, when it's evident that he is uncomfortable against the new ball. He has found form in England, but I am pretty sure it's not going to last. You want to place a bet?

Only issue being Dhoni cant score anywhere right now :) What's wrong in Sachin batting at 4-down?
That's not his preferred position, has scored more than 3/4th of his runs batting at no.4. He's still the best batsman in the side and by dropping him so low down the order you're sending a real panicking signal to the opponent, that's the least India could afford not to do at this stage!

If Dravid cant play at No.3 in England, nobody in the Indian line up can.

Actually trying Sehwag in middle order is a very good idea. Its not that he has made all his runs when the ball is swinging - he ( or any good opener) sees through new ball and then starts scoring. So, if someone says he can not bat at middle order, does not make much sense. The question is - if Sehwag has to bat in middle order, who (Mukund or whoever) can weather the initial storm - almost as good as Sehwag if not better.

I don't think Sehwag is old enough to go down the order yet. I think he still has a good eye and good reflexes. When his eye starts to go it will be a good idea to put him in the middle order. This could be a good line-up in 2 years.

Well played Mukund, but a bit late :nervous: But I think we should go ahead with our regular openers Viru and Gambhir for the next test. Mukund can be 5th down in place of raina. We need an opener to face the 2nd new ball as well :--D

Actually Its a Terrible Idea, Even if Sehwag scores 20-30 runs the Number of Boundaries he will score and the manner he will score those boundaries may well Make Strauss Change his Field Settings in No Time. Surely he will take some sleeps away and that would eventually help Our cause given the fact we are struggling against the New ball. Lets not take the tour game too seriously, Even Saha has scored more than Dhoni does that mean Saha should play ahead of him as a Keeper? If You play Sehwag, he must Open. I still remember Sehwag was made to play in the Middle Order in SA in 2006 it didnt change Much he was Out slogging against Harris. Having said that I saw a clip of the tour match in a Regional news channel and Boy Sehwag has put up some weight. This Bunch looks to me the most Unfit Bunch to have played for India.

He was not exactly slim in the 1st place. It will be interesting to see how big he is.

They must have showed some old clip. AFAIK he has lost weight and come back quite fit.

Sehwag, IMO, is our best test batsman, esp when he is in- form .... When Tendu retires, I won't be surprised to see batting Sehwag at #4 But that's in future. Ind is 0-2 and if it is anyone who can get Ind back, it's Sehwag. The guy has tons of huge scores whether it is Melbourne, multan, galle or chennai. He should always be batting in the top 4 (no matter what format) My x1 for 3rd and 4th test - Sehwag - GG - Dravid - tendu - laxman - mukund / Raina / 5th bowler if required - dhoni - zak - Ishant - Sree - mishra or PK (depending upon conditions) With Ind needing to win the last two (pick 40 wkts), the main point for me is the 5th bowler vs mukund/Raina

I would be the happiest, Being on of his Biggest Admirers if that comes true.

sending sehwag in the middle order is a blunder... because you have to take his mind into consideration if e is going to wait for 45-50 overs in the dressing room and comes in at 5 or 6 then he will die of impatience.

he was as good as raina facing the new ball.

I also believe so. that is why I would like to see him bat in middle order - while he is in prime of test career.. But then no other better option for opening slot too.
