Sure' date=' but why don't we wait for some more time and give Dhoni another chance?[/quote'] It is not about Dhoni's captaincy, I think the guy can't hold his place in the playing XI but that might change on pitches which seam less.

These buddha effers should now be called batting mafia...dont know what else is needed for them to see the writing on the wall.
Whatever remote sembelance of respect we have left is due to these so called Buddha's...Can you imagine how much more worse it would have been if these guys were not even present in the tour... It is really mornic of some of the fans asking for the seniors to retire...Where is the talent to replace them???Like I asked before can someone give me the names of atleast 5 talented individuals ready to be given a go...THe criteria is not just talent and skill but also temparement.

I think Dhoni is going down the path of Graeme Smith - he's been captain for too long and has got stale and more than anything seems mentally tired. Cricbuzz: The less said about Mahendra Singh Dhoni's captaincy the better. He was ultra defensive and lacked imagination and nous to put any pressure on the England side. His batting save for the Edgbaston game was reckless and mindless.

In the Edgbaston game he made runs when the game was already over. When he really needed to perform like at Lord's second innings, Trent Bridge first innings and Oval second innings, he was nowhere to be seen.

Yeah, one bad series and we are burning him. We're talking like school children now. Success has many father, failure is an orphan. Why blame him alone. Lets sack VVS, Tend, Viru, Raina, Bajji, Sree and get a brand new team.

If we were to replace him, we need someone as passionate for test cricket - as SRT/Kumble/Dravid... I don't see any of the younger players (who are in the team) who are anywhere close. Best bet would have been Gambhir, but he has been too injury prone. In future, if Pujara or Kohli show commitment to excel in test cricket, backed up by performances - then they can be considered. For now, MSD is the only choice.

His deficiencies as a captain and as a test cricketer in general have been noticeable for a long time. The workload is affecting his performance and he could do with focusing more on the limited overs stuff, where he is still a good player and captain. The decline in his wicketkeeping has been the biggest shock. I think he is playing with an injury.

His fitness is a massive concern.
Excuse me? I never recall Gambhir getting injured in the past. This IPL thing was a one-off. As for the ones in the tests, they were induced by a powerful Matt Prior sweep and a concussion after a dropped catch. Tough luck, nothing else. Give him the captaincy I say! We want some Ganguly type aggression again.

Your memory is poor or you don't follow the game very closely.

ONE SERIES, guys. One bloody series. This thread is freaking pointless. For all you smart cookies who think Dhoni cannot/did not/not good enough to bat, he's our second(or third probably after Sachin's 91) highest run getter in this series. So by your logic of judging players solely on this series, if Dhoni cannot bat, then VVS/Gauti/Viru/Raina should all be dropped! Heck, let's say he's out of the XI, who do you propose will keep? Parthiv? Saha? or someone who didn't even make it as a second reserve keeper, Karthik? Stop talking out of your ass.

I remember calls were made that Yuvraj should be dropped just before world cup cuz of his slump in form for 1-2 years and guess what who turned up for India in the tournament? Most Indian fans are really fickle and they make the same player hero/zero in matter of 1 game/series. Many made Dhoni legend after world cup win, now he is useless player in playing XI. He has proved himself at Interntional level, going through a slump, he needs to be backed.
