Indian fast bowling prospects

I wonder what will happen the day we actually find a truly great phhhassst bowler. The guy might become the biggest star in the history of Indian cricket.

I think Srinath was truly a star bowler...Not great, but pretty close to that...Did he get what he deserved ?

I don't know. If we find some guy who becomes a great phhhassst bowler (I'm talking an average of low 20s, speed of 150+ and longevity), he might become as big as any Indian cricketer.

For what its worth, I truly believe that to become a great bowler , equally important is the kind of bowling partner you have. A really good fast bowler who can bowl at 150 and terrorize the batsmen. But to do that, he needs a decent fast bowling partner who can maintain the pressure from the other side. Without a partner, there is no way you can get a world class bowler. HIstory proves it. So India needs around 2-3 good pacers.

I don't think selectors have faith in bowlers who have pace, they seem to just look at domestic stats and pick bowlers. No wonder a bowler like Vinay Kumar gets picked ahead of Umesh Yadav. :facepalm:

It's really a shame that young fast bowlers like Aaron,Umesh are being ignored & a club level trundler Vinay Kumar is playing for India

Umesh Yadav was poor even against Zimbabwe. I dont think he will be effective in international cricket.

He was but young fast bowlers can be hit around the park.That doesn't mean he can't be better.His ability to bowl fast is important besides that do u rate Vinay Kumar higher than him???If Vinay Kumar can play for India then this guy also worth some chances.

Thats the point, bowlers should be selected on the basis of pure pace. Swing, seam, line length u can learn, but bowling fast is a natural talent and it cant be taught. Few icfers are better than the natiaonal selectors.

Have seen dozens of "fast" bowling prospects over the years.. they all become spin bowling prospects after making debut... like irfan pathan and now munaf patel

BTW have you seen Children's film Chillar party ? They have shown how children were nick named ,the one who use to bowl fast are called Akram,Akhtar

Srinath was never considered as fearsome bowler .I still remember when the hype of Shoaib Akhtar was created Children who use to bowl fast always like to be called Shoaib akhtar .Giving bowler an Indian name was/is like a abuse. BTW have you seen Children's film Chillar party ? They have shown how children were nick named ,the one who use to bowl fast are called Akram,Akhtar

I remember that, and some of the kids who used to bowl really slow were named as Indian "fast" bowlers like venkatesh prasad :giggle:

Madan Lal - Fastest off spinner- (Legend also has that he once had ball bounce twice before it reached the batsman) 2.Ghavri- Left arm Spinner (which he actually did part-time) 3.Sandhu fastest bowler with a flight 4.Kapil (post 90s) slower than Kumble 5.Chetan Sharma runs faster than he bowls ( i think Madan had the same ).

BCCI should try to develop the bowling skills of pacers who can be 145k + and see to it that they retain the motivation and fitness to bowl fast along with being a good bowler. Even if 145k + bowlers are not bowling well at the moment, they can be trained to bowl better with proper guidance. They should be given special attention as they are a rare breed. In modern sports it is all about scientific training after a talent is spotted. I don't think that is hapenning with bowlers in India ( the MRF pace academy has not been that good and India team bowling coaches seem to be on paid vacations ). Inspite of the Indian team management's love affair with medium paced swing bowlers, even as a variation they should pick other types of pacers like deck hitters, genuine pace in the air bowlers and those who can seam the ball rather than swing it. Why should all the pacers be medium paced swing bowlers ? While choosing between 2 equally bad bowlers why should we not go for the deck hitting type etc. even as a variation ? Alas, only Ishant has fitted this bill for the last 4 years or so.

After the disastrous English tour one thing is clear that we need to develope a top class fast bowling pool of atleast 8-10 bowlers.For fast bowlers player growth' date='developement,proper break,fitness ,core strength improvement & diet these things are very important.One heartwarming thing is that we have some talented guys but all of them are not finished product yet.Though they can be developed into fantastic bowlers in 2-3 years time.[b']Ishant Sharma(age-23,pace-135-152kph)),Varun Aaron(age-21,pace-140-154kph),Umesh Yadav(age-23,pace-135-152kph),Sudeep Tyagi(age-24,pace-135-145kph),Abu Nechim Ahmed(age-22,pace-135-145kph),Rahul Shukla(age-21,pace-unknown but hyped as very fast),Pritam Das(age-22,pace-unknown but he's sharp),Pawan Suyal(age-21,pace-unknown but he's sharp) all are very young & quite pacy.Abhimanyu Mithun & Jaidev Unadkat are also two very young bowlers but needs lots of improvements to be near the national team reckoning.Deepak Chahar(age-19,swings the ball both ways but needs to improve his pace,has some batting talent),Srikanth Wagh(age-22,pace-130-140kph & he is an allronder,can bat),Bhuvaneswar Kumar(age-20,pace-120-130kph but he can hike his pace & can bat in the middle-order,bats at no.6 for UP) are some pace bowling all-rounders.There are also some unknown pacers who will be in action for 2011-12 domestic season like Abhisek Tamark(Jharkhand),Mehjoor Ali Sofi(J & K),Baltej Singh(Punjab).I've heard abt Rehan Khan from Bihar who is hyped as a 150kph bowler according to our friend RightArmfast.There is Ashok Dinda(age-27,pace-130-145kph) & Pankaj Singh(age-26,pace-125-140kph,he is the best performing FC pacer) in domestic circuit who has represented India but I'm not too convinced with them.So these are our fast bowling stocks and we need to develope them & select the best 5-6 among them if we aim to regain the no.1 spot in test cricket.

Two bowlers I personally feel that have a bit of pace and seem strong also being left handers . Prasanth Parmeswaram, although age not entirely on their side and Shalabh Srivastav.I have been reading the posts from you guys for quite a while and enjoy reading them also Hi to you all.Varun Aaron to me, in terms of speed can match Shane Bond from all that I have seen, also dont count VRV Singh out, everything I know about Duncan Fletcher makes me think he will punt on the right guys also hopefully Dhoni's stubborness doesnt get in the way

yes , indeed they are on the higher side age wise, fitness wise, i really doubt they would get a thought from selectors. Everybody in india want to find Talent at a early age so that they can gain experience and be sharper in their skills.
