also I believe' date=' Money CAN buy happiness.
It cannot RD, thats ok I can understand difference in viewpoint, but perhaps you may change your idea too someday. That should be a new thread in ICF, Can happiness be bought with wealth?
I read and do math stuff all day and get paid for it. My work is incredibly exciting 80% of the time and a drag the rest 20%. So I persevere through the 20% to be able to do the 80%.
The best I've heard from peekay at ICF! :two_thumbs_up:

Money cant buy happiness and it's true that no matter how rich you become, everyone faces problems in life. But I would rather be a rich man in problems than a poor man in problems.

Money can buy comfort' date=' not happiness.[/quote'] That is a lie spread by rich and powerful, so that they don't have competition. :winky: All it means is that happiness is state of mind - which only you can control, and can't be bought off some shelf. But, it does not mean, you can not be happy if you are rich.

"money cannot buy happiness" does not mean "you cannot be happy if you are rich". It means "Just because you are rich does not mean you are happy.

it was just money when i started off , but love the technology i work on ...apart from that lot more flexibility with timings most people can dream off ...hardly at work for 5-6 hrs on most days , which includes a lunch & a dozen cigi breaks ...a lot of my work can be done from home , which is an advantage .

I understand that 'semantic technicality'. Still some people misread it that they (rich) can't be happy. So, there is nothing wrong in going after money, as long as you can maintain sanity.

^ Nothing wrong going after it - just have clarity why you are going after it and what it can provide (comfort, luxury - not happiness which even an ascetic (with not much materialistic comfort) can have, since it's a state of mind)

Also, unless you are one of the lucky few (like holychmoke baba :icflove:) or a rich doc like Dhondy (or Sooda? :D), what sacrifices are you willing to make to 'get rich'? What trade-offs, if any?

That makes no effin sense, its just a random collection of words to make it sound as though you're saying something profound.

what is work? it is what is done between watching cricket and writing about it in 3 different formats including arguing which format is tamasha and which is pure, eating, drinking, sleeping, browsing, watching movies/sitcoms, playing sports on/off, occasional work out, vacation/travel, ... and what do you work for? to be able to do the things in between

What she means is that there is nothing wrong with going after money. But she wants to know what you want to achieve with that money. Money will get you comfort, luxury, etc. But not necessarily happiness. You should have that clarity in your mind. TL;DR Money == Comfort + Luxury + etc != happiness
