You might not wanna judge him on that. I am not comparing him to anyone here but few days back I was watching those U19 WC matches where Kohli lead us and the way he was batting over there and the way he score runs now has really changed or I would rather say it has improved. I din't see him playing on the up during the U19s and he does that usually now and a very crucial reason behind that innings against Aussies in Adelaide. He is just 19 and will surely improve by years. And he hasn't had a big impact in the IPL, there wasn't much of him to watch in there.

Unmukt is far ahead than what Virat was at this level dude. You are talking about Vijay Zol who is nowhere near his achievements at U19 level. Unmukt already has 4 100s at U19 one day level, more than any batsman in its history, 2 of them in Australia and all four of his 100s came in SF and final stages of the tournaments. This itself says the kind of temperament the guy has. He may or may not be successful in future, but you cannot predict how will he be because there was no Indian batsman at U19 who could have matched him bar Yuvraj.

Certain things are . At best you can avoid shots in areas you are week , like loose the hook or pull if you cant handle the short ball . He cud endup being a pretty decent player , but if you think hes the next best thing then hes not ..far from it imo . Am more excited about Vijay Zol

Either you watch a different game or don't understand it. At a young age, everything can change including technique - I can show you countless cricketers who have changed their technique even after 23 -24 years of age. Your point is quite moot, to be honest. Currently, you are in no position to project ANY player as sure shot Test prospects. If you do, you are being an astrologer. All you can do is have a pool of players who you "think may have a good chance" - some of them will go ahead to become great players, some of them will become good players and some of them won't reach that level at all. You can't discard OR project the next GREAT player. You can only have a fair sort of idea. More importantly you CAN NOT discard on points like technique because these things can be easily corrected.

NEW DELHI: For a coach, it is as difficult to compare two of his favourite students as it is for a parent to discriminate between kids but Sanjay Bhardwaj feels that India U-19 captain Unmukt Chand is a better talent than his other illustrious ward Gautam Gambhir. "Unmukt is certainly more talented than what Gautam was at his age. While Unmukt is a mixture of talent and hardwork, Gautam was all sweat. If you see Unmukt's career graph, his biggest plus is grabbing every major opportunity with both hands. Gautam had to struggle and fight a lot more than Unmukt," Bhardwaj said on Monday. "I can only thank God that he chose me as guide for Gautam and Unmukt. It's their talent that has made me look good as a coach and not the other way round. I have only groomed and fine tuned a few mental aspects of the game. It's their dedication that has taken them where they are right now," Bhardwaj said. Asked about what are Unmukt's chances of making it to senior team, Bhardwaj replied, "By early 2013, Unmukt should be in the senior team. Obviously, he would have to perform well but he has the talent and willpower to do well," the coach said. According to Bhardwaj, in a sport like cricket, it helps if a cricketer has a solid family background which helped both Gambhir and Unmukt. "Unmukt's mentor was his uncle who is now in Mumbai. He brought Unmukt when he was only 12 years old. He was a disciplined boy then and is very obedient even now. He is firmly rooted to the ground. He has studied in posh school and is now in a renowned college but he has never shown any outrageous qualities like teenagers of his age. His kitbag has books other than cricket gears." Bhardwaj didn't forget to mention that parents of aspiring cricketers should never ignore education. "I see a lot of parents coming with bagful of money and requests to make their sons like Gautam or Unmukt. I tell them that I was just a medium of finetuning their talent as they had the basic talent that many don't have. So just don't become a cricketer but also study hard. I couldn't become a cricketer, so I studied hard to become a coach," he concluded.

Though Gauti's hunger is a quality in its own.I remember when they started out Shikhar Dhawan was regarded to be more talented than gauti,but look at where he is now:hatsoff:

Am I the only one here who wants us to stop hyping this kid up so much He's a gifted player but he still has a lot of rough edges to smooth out and first class cricket is the perfect arena for him to do that Bring him into India A which give him experience on overseas pitches but he needs at least a year or two of first class cricket before coming into the side

Even if a spot opens up, there are other contenders who've had an excellent year in Ranji. The A-tour to NZ will actually make it clear as to who'd be the frontrunners if a spot opens up.
