Trundler27 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 darn it........ he is already 24 and probably won't make it to the team before he is 26 or so..... at that time he would have 3-4 seasons left at his peak provided he remains fit.... I really hope he does very well in the upcoming season and gets firmly in the national reckoning. This ranji season will be fairly exciting...... can't wait to see aaron, nechim, rahul shukla, tyagi, shami, and anwar khan in action for their respective sides...... hopefully 2-3 of these guys can really leave their mark on this season.

MCcricket Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Sudeep Tyagi is more ready then any other pacer's in line to make a test debut, he has been thru the grind in domestic cricket, also has good pace , bounce, can swing and seam.He and VRV should be higher in the pecking order as far as fast medium bowlers, above Umadkat, PK, VK.Varun, Umesh , Shukla, Shami should be in the fast bowler category and both have their jobs for the team,hope selectors realize that.

Injuries have hurt him a lot.

I know VRV personally. He is my friends known. I have met him in PCA stadium on numerous occasions. I honestly feels, he don't have any chance to make it into the Indian team in the near future. May be, Manpreet Gony, but he has to work hard a lot. These guys are really lazy. Manpreet is married, so whatever he earns from IPL, he is happy with that. But, he still have talent to make it if he works harder. VRV is just passing the time. Under 19 children who play in the PCA background have more stamina than these two.

Probably they don't want that. Who knows IPL would make them even more lazy as they will get easy money and won't try to burn themselves.

He bowled brilliantly last season in the three matches he bowled, took 18 wickets wickets with 2 5-wicket hauls at an average of 14 and a strike rate of 26. He was the biggest reason UP winning those matches from nowhere.

Tyagi has one thing that cannot be coached or learned and that is natural height and mechanically/physically he's built like a prototype test bowler. He just has to do what every young bowler needs to do which is work hard on his skills, consistency, fitness and believe in his abilities. I see him very much like an Ishant Sharma who similar natural talent.

Kulkarni and Tyagi Find Graduating tough Oct 19 2011 Mumbai: The career graph of young pacemen Sudeep Tyagi and Dhawal Kulkarni is an indicator of the pace bowling woes that India are going through. Both showed great promise and potential in domestic cricket becoming top wicket-takers in Ranji Trophy but haven't lived up to the expectations. Instead of graduating to the senior level and being in the reckoning when Indian teams are picked they have found it tough to replicate their form. A recent reminder of their fall in status among India's rising medium pacers came when both Tyagi and Kulkarni were recently omitted from the three Challenger Trophy teams that contained 42 players. Pankaj Singh, Jaydev Unadkat, Abhimanyu Mithun, last season's top-wicket taker, Samad Fallah, Prashant Parameshwaran, Pradeep Sangwan were some of the upcoming medium-pacers to featured in the Challenger Trophy list. Tyagi scalped 41 wickets in 2007-08 to become the top wicket-taker in Ranji Trophy and Kulkarni picked up 42 wickets to top the list in 2008-09. Tyagi featured in four One-day Internationals for India and was part of the team which toured Bangladesh for a Test series, while Kulkarni travelled to New Zealand as a member of the Test side but didn't play a game. Tyagi believed that his international experience, however limited would help him be among the wickets in domestic cricket. However, that hasn't been the case. Injuries have also played a part in the Uttar Pradesh fast bowler experiencing a loss in form. " I was on a high when I was picked to play for India. But since then things haven't worked out for me. I was confident of getting wickets in domestic cricket but it wasn't as easy as I thought. It got a bit frustrating. Last season I took 20 wickets in three games but then injured my shoulder. I was really bowling well at that point, Tyagi said. Competition is rather intense in the Uttar Pradesh side when it comes to medium-pacers with the likes of Praveen Kumar, Rudra Pratap Singh and Bhuvanesh Kumar around. But now, Tyagi has recovered from the shoulder injury. I need to have another great year in order to make a strong comeback, the 24-year-old said. Kulkarni, 22, hasn't been immune to the fluctuations in fortunes either. Kulkarni, who made his India A debut before he played a domestic game for his Ranji side Mumbai, has had his share of ups and downs. After he picked 42 wickets two seasons ago, Kulkarni got a call up to join the India Test squad for the tour of New Zealand. Sometimes I do get frustrated but I have decided not to think too much about what went wrong or why I am not part of a certain squad. I am ready to do whatever it takes to be back in the reckoning, Kulkarni, who took 16 wickets in four games for Mumbai last season, said. Growing competition in the form of Varun Aaron, who is much faster, and other upcoming pacers is something Kulkarni is aware of. I can bowl upwards of 130kmph and can be consistent when it comes to line and length. It is bowling in the right areas that has got me wickets in the past. I am confident that the same formula will work for me, Kulkarni said. The Challenger Trophy snub is something Tyagi and Kulkarni have taken in their stride. They both hope to make amends as the season progresses.
