Pagalpanti Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Indian batting over-all has done well. Every game someone or the other steps up. Kohli has been the consistent performer of the lot.
Sid Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Get Pappu out of the team ,rest is fine.I am waiting to see Uthappa opening in t20 match :aha:
Number Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Before 2000 we had Dravid Azhar jadeja. Around 2003 we had Ganguly Dravid Kaif and Yuvi Now we have Kohli Yuvi (missing here)Raina Dhoni -- The best middle order we ever had in the last 15 years.
Dravid_TheWall Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 As above. Parthiv not good enough. Imo gauti and rahana should open and someone else should slot in middle/lower order. Maybe everyone goes up one position and uthapa/yp at 6.
Pagalpanti Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 ^That will happen once guys like Rohit and Yuvraj get fit. Parthiv has been a disappointment in the sense that he's got off to good starts but not converted those 30s-40s to a big score.

Parthiv has been a disappointment in the sense that he's got off to good starts but not converted those 30s-40s to a big score. He has same issue as Dinesh Kartik. We should have opened with a genuine batsmen who has appetite for big runs. But PP and DK were "safe" openers in that they would give you a reasonable start so can't fault the selectors.
Dravid_TheWall Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Manoj Tiwary has been 12th man for many matches. He deserves a chance. Pappu should be dropped for next match. I agree. Looks like he was brought in for his good fielding :two_thumbs_up: Problem with dropping PP is everyone will have to move up one. Could open with Manoj as replacement for PP but not sure about this.
Texy Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 The advantage of bringing in Manoj would be ....even stronger fielding...and he can't do worse than papa...plus he will be in front of his home crowd at Eden our middle order seriously looked brilliant through out.... kohli, raina, dhoni & Jadeja providing great support
jairamesh Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 ^That will happen once guys like Rohit and Yuvraj get fit. Parthiv has been a disappointment in the sense that he's got off to good starts but not converted those 30s-40s to a big score. I think even if he gets those 30-40 it's perfect (considering the middle order to come), he has regressed since the ODIs in england, where he looked impressive negotiating the short balls and playing off the backfoot. Parthiv's role was to stay in till the first 15 overs and score around a strike rate of 80%, unfortunately he has failed in that manner this series, but it's too late to drop him due to the momentum, but I reckon this might be his last series as a specialist batsman role in the team.

saneindian Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Gambhir is getting married on 28th. Should be given the time off for his marriage now which would mean GG going out and Manoj coming in for the Eden game. That should be the only change. Maybe PK sits out and Rahul Sharma gets a game provided MSD is confident with just 2 pacers,
Sooda Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Would like MSD rested too, but there is no other batter in the squad is there? Unless a change is made. Wish Mukund was in there, proper opener, more of a long term op than PP
Dravid_TheWall Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Exactly' date=' that's where Murli Vijay was such a frustration.[/quote'] Yeah he was another one those openers!
Sidhoni Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Kohli Yuvi(not here right now) Raina Dhoni :hail: :hail:
Sachinism Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Parthiv is a backfoot player, he likes when the pitch offers a bit more bounce. Maybe he can be an away track bully
asterix Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Manoj could get a chance to play in his home ground. However, one could'nt be sure because the team management tends to give players a whole series without any chopping and changing. That's one reason we are not able to check all the players for the next series, unless any player is injured and the other player gets a chance to play. If Yadav would'nt have been injured, I don't think Aaron could've got any chance to play in this series and would've to wait for the next series, and in that too, he could've got chance if another bowler got injured. England team was criticised to drop Swann and check Borthwick, but they exactly know what they are doing. Even if they are losing, they need to give chances to some of the young players to prepare for the next series. In Indian team players get dropped from the next series by sitting on the bench in any current series. I wouldn't be surprised if Manoj doesn't gets chance to play in this series and then gets dropped from the next series..
