vamos_rafa Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 The fletcher mantra also saw Ashley Giles play for donkey years in the English team. How long before Ojha gets replaced by Jadeja in the test squad? There was no spinner in the team to hold a place. Phil Tufnell was only good enough to crack jokes. So, they took one spinner who could atleast hold 1 end up. SA has always done the same. Be it with Symcox or Harris as all their spinners were cr@p
vamos_rafa Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 I'd like to reserve my comments until Australia tour' date=' it seems like everything is back on track but don't forget we're playing WI and narrowly escaped in 1st test.[/quote'] +1
CoverDrive Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 what i am looking for is a culture where bowling fast preparing bouncy wickets becomes a more common and encourages a stream of guys bowling fast.
achilles Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 I am sure the Sports Management Companies will also realize that a genuine Indian Quick is a much more marketable commodity. Someone like that will bring in $$$$$; look at the many threads on here even though there is yet to be a proven talent. Only time will tell what the SMCs thing about this subject.
MCcricket Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Shastri has very rightly mentioned, that India did not try out many players, or if they were tried out they weren't given a longer run, especially under Dhoni, reason being India was successful and Dhoni is a bit wary of the idea.India needs to build a good bench strength, big three will retire in couple of years also ZAHEER IS NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER, Fletcher seems to be the right man also hopefully make Dhoni see his way,Gony, Tyagi, Aaron, Umesh, Pankaj Singh, these guys should be tried,a lot of younger batsmen are also knocking on the doors, Rohit, Dhawan, Manish,Pujara, Vijay,Kohli, Mukund, enough raw material to work with and find the replacements for our big three which will be very hard.
King Tendulkar Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 Yadav bowling fast qick and short spells. Ishants speeds are well up as wicket for one he got was 88mph. Fletcher is demanding pace. The right man for India at this moment.
saneindian Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Was called a good for nothing coach after the England series! How quickly times change.
vamos_rafa Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Was called a good for nothing coach after the England series! How quickly times change. Wait for the Aussie series.
ganeshran Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 F Fletcher he would be a nightmare another Chappell. Need someone who keeps his mouth shut, praises the players a lot and is good at putting cones out and giving throw downs
Cricket Tragic Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Not a surprise given his reputation. It was time that we introduced some new bowlers anyway.
Number Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Where are those debates of '120 kmph+Line-length vs optimum-high pace' ?
JeffThommo_fan Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Yes he seems more settled now with Indian team. And with time, you will see his influence in the bowling dept. He definitely prefers fast bowlers and is good at making strategies and plans for the fast bowlers. He loves reverse swing. And all this will have definite effect on Indian bowling structure. India have lots of fast bowling talent and they just need to be shown the right direction and Fletcher seems to be the right person
Pagalpanti Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 lol Chit bhi apni aur Pat bhi apni :winky:
EnterTheVoid Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 F Fletcher he would be a nightmare another Chappell. Need someone who keeps his mouth shut, praises the players a lot and is good at putting cones out and giving throw downs This fellow is an idiot. An attention seeking one at that.
vamos_rafa Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 This fellow is an idiot. An attention seeking one at that. Whom are you talking about? :hmmm:
vvvslaxman Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 he has covered both bases lol if india had lost he could have bumped the other one :hysterical:
asterix Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I remember my "Fletcher laughing all the way to the Bank" thread.. :cantstop: So I'll try to be "neutral" on this topic..We will have to wait and watch. If we do well in Overseas series then credit where it's due.. i.e. both Team managment & captain..
vvvslaxman Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I stick to my criticism about his for his stupid explanation for abandoning the chase in the last test in Windies. 0-4 should have never happened against England.
fineleg Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Whom are you talking about? :hmmm: Prolly dsr since dsr had criticized Duncan Fletcher as quoted above.
rahulrulezz Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 As vvslaxman said, that surrendering to Wi will always bother me about Fletcher. Nonetheless m impressed with him so far n I hope he brings in more pace bowlers into the team. What I found strange was that he didn't select Aaron to play over the likes of V Koomar even in Odis. I guess he doesn't have any power over final 11 or else if it was upto fletcher, he Wudnt even put VKoomar in IndiaB11
