Why is everyone going on about Kohli struggling in windies. Thats the point. He is young and will learn and improve. He will have learnt loads from that windies series, good young players often have to fail first to learn how to succed. Don't make me list players who flunked but came back from ZK to Gambhir to S Waugh. Get him in now. Good home series to come back in and then go to oz. He has the abillty just needs time in side. His odi knocks show the ability he has
Thats not the case. India has players that are better adapted to Test cricket and technique......Pujara and Rohit. Kohli is right up there too, but when its obvious Pujara and Rohit have better temperament and technique then Kohli, they should be brought ahead along with Kohli?? Like Raina..........hes still young, scores just like Kohli in ODI's but got dropped cuz of his style of play in Tests doesnt suit him. Im confident Kohli will adapt to test cricket, but not at the expense of other player who are ready to go. And guys like Yuvraj, Harbhajan are blocking the way.

Why not Rohit? I know he isn't in the 15' date=' but I would like this guy to be given some test chances.[/quote'] absolutely.he should have been picked for the tests ahead of Yuvi who is and always was a dead end,we need to find new talent and Yuvi is a progress stopper.

On what basis are u judging Rohit has a better temperament than Kohli.Fair enough if u are just about Technique but from what both have shown in international cricket Kohli is miles ahead of Rohit in terms of temperament.

I struggle to understand why The Yuseless keeps getting chance after chance when 10 years of repeated failure show he will never make it at test level. People used to laugh at Ajit Agarkar for having more lives than a cat but at least he had the figures at one time to back up his selections. The Yuse, apart from one innings v Eng, has done nothing of note. Seriously its time to move on.

Just like World Cup, I'm gonna keep quiet till the Australian series ! Like he proved u all wrong in the world cup, he will prove u wrong again. If he doesn't become a part of test team then il quit ICF ; ) BTW , what was laxman, dravid etc's performance in first Aus tour ?

Laxman made a magnificent 167 against McGrath and Warne at Sydney.

Prove people wrong in the World Cup :hmmm: His ODI game could not be questioned, only his bowling was a surprise. Lack of form in one format does not equal years of incompetency in another.

Dont know why this is used as an arguement to defend Yuvi's lack of performance in Aus last time around. And it wasnt as if he landed to play in Aus for the first time in his life.He already toured Aus allbeit for the VB series in 2004,so he was well verse with what the Aus tracks are like and what he is going to recieve there.

Someone please tell me Cheteshwar Pujara is still not fully fit...if he is, we should throw some eggs on Srikkanths face for having Yuvi in the squad. Even then, I feel like Rahane or Kohli should have played ahead of Yuvi. Yuvi should be rested for the ODI team.

I respect Laxman, but he was just throwing his bat around in a lost cause to cement his place in ODI team in that series. If someone could provide me the data, laxman, Ganguly etc had the same avg as Yuvi in 30+ tests. Don't get me wrong, I'm Kohli's firm supporters. But Yuvi is NEEDED in Tests if we have to win abroad. His value is same in middle-lower order as Sehwag at top order. Peace...

yuvraj averages less than 30 "abroad",that is really bad man.he is done and has been for a while.he wont be able handle the bounce in australia and you know it.

Pujara did not play the first round of ranji games and will probably be back in the games starting tomorrow. I strongly feel that pujara and zaheer will be back for the australian tour. Now the number 6 spot is an annoyance because not only have the batters at that spot sucked more often, but also because dhoni has sucked at 7 in tests which suggests why we have had a LOT of big 6-7wkt collapses in the past 6 months. Fixing this will take some time provided someone steps up. Rohit, pujara, kohli, rahane are not number 6 batters and hence might take even longer to get used to batting down there. Motu and raina have struggled as well... so the experimentation should continue. It wouldn't be a bad idea to move dhoni up to 6 and get jaddu (though not in the 15 atm) in at 7 to see how that combo works if these batters keep on failing. But we need to get kohli or rahane in place of one of the big 3 for the 2 and 3rd tests to give them some exposure.

Ganguly averaged nearly 50 after 30 tests. VVS was around 37 but then that was due to him playing as an opener in most of those 30 tests. In 2000 he decided not to play as an opener, went back to domestic cricket and hit 5-6 100s in a season to force his way into that middle order. Plus he was plundering domestic attacks regularly even when his international average wasn't great, something which Yuvraj has failed to do. Even when VVS was failing at the int'l level, no expert said he had a bad technique or lacked a proper defense for becoming a successful test batsman, things which are repeatedly said about Yuvraj the test batsman. Add to it the fitness problems he has had. Another major factor is the competition. VVS had guys like Sriram, Kanitkar, Jacob Martin as competition, Yuvraj now has Rohit, Kohli and Rahane. Yuvi knows his test career is on the line in this series and another failure at Eden could end his test dreams forever.

On Off topic, Laxman is twice the batsman that Ganguly can ever dream of becoming and it's a blot on our cricketing structure that we haven't been even been able to replace Ganguly - forget about replacing Laxman, Dravid, and Tendulkar.
