if there wasn't queue of young (potential) test batsman then fair enough. It's okay citing Hussey as an example, but when the likes Waugh, Martyn, Gilchrist etc were retiring Australia didn't have any potential youngster coming through hence they had no choice but to plonk for Hussey, who fortunately for Australia has come very very good.

What I admire about the guy is his fitness. Hasn't exactly grabbed his chances so far but what has always stood out is his agility and supreme fitness , even though he is 6-7 years elder to most of the youngsters. On his chances, the packed schedule means our team is never too far way from having slots opening up due to injuries (especially after IPL/CL). So who knows. More than Hussey, he should look at Hafeez as an example. As an international cricketer, he was written off completely, but what a comeback he has made even though he is 30+.

He had his chance in WI and he failed. We have so many promising youngsters in Kohli, Rohit, Rahane, Pujara etc. that he has to go back in the line and wait his turn once again. At least he has only himself to blame and no-one else.

Not after what we saw of Badri in WI. For crying out loud he was getting bounced out by the likes of Sammy and Andre Russell (the new WI all-rounder who debuted in the series)!!! They were hardly hitting 130s and were mostly in 120 kph range and Badri was getting beaten, was late on his shots and wasn't even able to handle their short pitched stuff! That was sort of embarrassing and I shudder to think what would have happened to hom on tours to Aus and SA.

Have you even cared to check Rohit Shara's domestic record? His first class average is 60+ and if I remember coerrectly is second only to Rahane. In this Ranji season also he has played three innings - 2 tons and 1 64. Looking at the class he has, sooner or later he's gonna come good. Just matter of time.

Vijay would be beast on any track where ball doesn't rise. I don't think he can enjoy bouncy flat Australia type of pitches. Mukund is good prospect for India especially considering that he is an opener.

Apart from that hundred at Bangalore (which was a good innings), Vijay was an almost total flop at international level. He showed promise early on, but after his IPL stints his technique seemed changed for the worse. Mukund looks good.
