BeautifulGame Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 one things for sure in future I dont him batting under pressure' date='[/quote'] Yep like when we need to avoid follow on or when we need to survive last 15 overs of a test match. They were no pressure situations werent they
Sachinism Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Yep like when we need to avoid follow on or when we need to survive last 15 overs of a test match. They were no pressure situations werent they  Exactly. WTF Lord, two pretty good innings under pressure, a situation that Sachin would've choked in a heartbeat
Trichromatic Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Exactly. WTF Lord' date=' [b']two pretty good innings under pressure, a situation that Sachin would've choked in a heartbeat Exactly, he batted sensibly twice under pressure in debut and still there are questions about his batting? He made a mistake, but these things happened. He managed it well to stay till end on both occasion and without his contribution under pressure, we could have lost this match.
Lord Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 one things for sure in future I dont him batting under pressure' date='[/quote']
Trichromatic Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I meant in situations wen quick runs are needed' date='he obviously showed good defense under pressure, but lacks power game n is a bad runner, bit like Jaddu[/quote'] Dude, these situations are very rare in test matches. You generally don't need to score quickly under pressure in test matches. Most of the time a genuine all rounder would have to stay on crease under pressure and not hit sixes like Jaddu.

saneindian Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I meant in situations wen quick runs are needed' date='he obviously showed good defense under pressure, but lacks power game n is a bad runner, bit like Jaddu[/quote'] Scored a 100 off 115 balls in the 1st innigs. Today he was restrained cos we did not need to go for 4s and 6s.
Cric_is_Life Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Well Played Ashwin :two_thumbs_up: the only mistake i could see was to allow varun to take a single in the last ball of the penultimate over. I feel if Ashwin denied that single, we could've won the match. Just a random thought!

King Tendulkar Posted November 26, 2011 Author Posted November 26, 2011 The question will soon arise. Should Ashwin bat ahead of Dhoni?
MCcricket Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Ashwin for sure will score more 50 's , 100's in his career, not sure how frequently , but he has the technique, talent, timing, with Ashwin, Jadeja, in ODI'S, WE WILL HAVE A VERY LONG BATTING LINE UP.
BeautifulGame Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I dont know where are people coming up with this assumption that he has great technique. For all the praise the century he scored was on a flat pitch with no bounce and he is new to international cricket so not many will know his weakness yet to exploit it. So we shouldnt be expecting him to contribute regularly with the bat in Aus.His main job is bowling and runs scored should be treated as an advantage. Terming him as all rounder or promoting him ahead of Dhoni at the moment are absurd to say the least.
div Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Hopefully Ashwin wil score a century in this test match

Ultimate_Game Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Few more pies and butter chickens and Ashwin will be a complete all "rounder" :giggle:
