achilles Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I think he will do reasonably well in Aus and retain his place. That is not good for long term. He should learn how to pick up wickets from Santh, who would've done a way better job than him in Australia. Corrected :icflove:
Dravid_TheWall Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Corrected :icflove: Sree will be back. Wasn't considered due to injury or personal dislike. Otherwise he would have walked into team based on skill.
achilles Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Sree will be back. Wasn't considered due to injury or personal dislike. Otherwise he would have walked into team based on skill. Hope he does. At the present moment, he should be thanking his lucky stars that he has a contract.
Dravid_TheWall Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Hope he does. At the present moment' date=' he should be thanking his lucky stars that he has a contract.[/quote'] Contract means nothing. They could just not choose for him one year then no contract next year. Nehra deserved one too, well harsh. There were some jokers on that contract list. In before someone says Sree, such is the humour of this forum.
mani0993 Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Sree will be back. Wasn't considered due to injury or personal dislike. Otherwise he would have walked into team based on skill. Really ? Why didn't he show his skills in FC's ? Even I'm a Sreesanth fan (not a fanatic by a long margin though). As I've maintained earlier, in England he bowled some outstanding spells, but didn't get a wicket. Same applies for Ishant. But he seems to take it lightly at times and get's unfit. Injuries cannot be prevented and he is currently injured. As far as personal dislike from the selection team is conc, I don't think so. Dhoni likes Sree. If No, he wouldn't have played ahead of Ashwin.
BeautifulGame Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Sree has received compliments of his talent from Kirsten, Donald and Chappell amongst many people. They know more than someone like you. The best "compliment" Ishant has received is that he is hardworking, that is what you say when someone lacks ability, that compliment came from the great Venky :two_thumbs_up: Here's Kristen saying Ishant is a special talent http://cricketnext.in.com/news/kirst.../56298-13.html India's 2nd greatest fast bowler saying ishant is more talented than himself. Also Gillespe in awe of Ishant. http://sports.ndtv.com/ind-eng-2011/...-awe-of-ishant Ya they know lot more than u.

That's real funny, what you have posted. The first link, the whole article was about Sreesanth being "highly skilled" as Kirsten put it, and him not fulfilling his potential. He then says one line about Ishant "hopefully he will get better with the experience." No doubt a reporter asked him specifically about Ishant and even then that was the response. At least read what you post rather than type "Ishant and Talent" into google in hope. Tbh anyone watching cricket knows who has more skill, doesn't take a genius. But yes Ishant is more hardworking no doubt. Your second link don't work. And I do agree with your last point, these experts like Kirsten and Donald know a lot more than me and you :giggle:
phaedrus Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 whats the use of having skills if you are braindead sree? you have been the biggest disappointment to the team and you should be working hard rather than stick around on forums justifying yourself
triam Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Same problem as Srinath had, with short of length bowling tough to get wickets. He needs to pitch it up more often and develop an outswinger then he can set up batsman with the short of length balls and throw in the outswinger once in a while. Srinath figured it out in his last 3-4 years hopefully Ishant figures out sooner than that.
zen Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 in general: develop variety, mix it up (not be too predictable), do his homework on the batsman, etc .... but more importantly have a mindset of going for wkts (rather than hoping for things to happen)
daryl1985 Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Do you throw terms like mentally unstable around very easily? Do you know the criteria required to diagnose someone with a mental illness and the principles of the mental state examination? Exactly. Alright i did not actually mean he was mentally unstable (in medical terms). He lacks the mentality to be a top bowler. He has the talent to succeed but he lacks patience, he shoots his mouth off and is not hard working enough. Your obsession with Sreesanth is ridiculous. I saw you talking about Ashwin defending the penultimate ball in the test and said he should have gone for the win, citing an example of Sreesanth scoring a quickfire 20 odd runs. :WTF:
Old guy Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 lol i for one like sreesanth bowling(only when he pitches it up and do the basics never get why he bowls 6 diff deliveries in some spell in same over lol)but talent wise i think both are talanted ishant has talent of pace, bounce and now we are seeing glimpse of his full potential in some spells sreesanth is good swing bowler who can crank up pace when in rythem you cant compare them ishant has one advantage on his side time... sreesanth needs to be much more patient (dhoni too :P) well all i can say is if he gets consistent and forgets sledging and over use of variations it would be good for him and india for ishant mark my words big turn around is near you can tell he is in good form just matter of getting little things right most of his major problems(rythem, action, speed)are fixed
Old guy Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 1 more thing i remember when irfan pathan was on top ,zaheer khan came back into team it was against some weaker team i dont remember irfan pathan out bowled him.. zaheer only swung the ball away from right handers back then looked totally ineffective but see how lots of hardwork in county and little adjustments changed him he is one of hte best bowlers in the world (provided if he is fit xD) ishant when you see match now and se him bowl you can tell he is doing lots of things right when compared to his spells in south africa even if you are not expert you can jsut tell by body language how deliveries are coming out etc
MCcricket Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Ishant is bowling well, during the end of the series he bowled good length and importantly targetted the stumps,he is in good rhythm, he is India's best bowler after Zak, wickets will come, need to bowl fuller also have a stock ball which is not on shorter side,Srinath had the same issue in his career which he corrected towards the end of his career and was more successfull.
Ramzz Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Ishant does not have a plan for getting batsmen out. His performances are good when ZAK is playing as ZAK does all the planning for him and Ishant just follows his lead. This is like baby sitting. Can't go on for long, Ishant needs to start thinking and planning himself. ZAK won't be there for ever.

He has the talent to succeed but he lacks patience' date=' he shoots his mouth off and is not hard working enough.[/quote'] Perhaps he does lack the mentality. But Dhoni has not handled him well and allowed Sree to express himself. Take this example, for Kerala in IPL Sree gestured towards the Aussie coach of the team about something, yet captain Jayawardene backed Sree and played down the incidence. He was able to get the best out of Sree and Mahela is someone I now respect. If Sree was in Waugh's or Punter's team they also would have got the best out of this talented player. Dhoni and co use personal dislike as a reason to drop someone. This is about winning, not forming friendships. If you also read that post I mentioned how Ashwin has batted and bowled very well. I was talking about Ashwin's lack of courage and bravery in the last few overs of that match whilst batting. I also cited how Bhajji has this boldnesss, for example the 2001 series v Aus, scoring the winning runs when 8 wickets down or Asia Cup 2010 when he took on Shoaib Akhtar under intense pressure to win us the game. And yes I did mention Sree because even though he can't bat well, he has never been afraid to take the bowlers on. Hitting Nel for a six, he also backed away and smashed 90mph + ball from Dirk Nannes for four which shocked everyone. Also he made 29 not out v WI and it was an aggressive counter attacking innings. Yes it doesn't always come off but the intent is there, unlike with Ashwin and he could learn from this experience. Nothing wrong with the post.

The reason I don't give Dhoni example is because he is an established batsmen. Ashwin is a no8. I was just trying to compare him with a former no.8 ie Bhajji or anyone more below. Sree is usually no9-11 and I was saying even though he worse than Ashwin with bat sometimes he is bold. I sensed Ashwin backed out even before the last over. Basically didn't like the way he handled it. But Ashwin is a good player and this was just a minor issue. I know you are not a sree basher dude. :two_thumbs_up:
