Longer runs where they can learn from their mistakes are required.

As for now yes and will definitely get the first 2 tests in Aus. However if he fails in the first 2 tests against Aussies, Rohit or Rahane may replace him.

wassup with all rohit supporters did ya guys watch south africa vs india odis? rohit sharma struggled has no clue aganst balls rising (not even short!) outside off kohli on the other hand was our best batsman even there who so ever said he can hook please dont count hooks played on indian pitches even sehwag can hook here unless he improveed drastically i dont see how rohit can be succesful in tests on the other hand rahane looks compact would play him if i was caption in case of injury even pujara seems to be ready for tests his innings in south africa even though not many rns were scored by him he looked solid dale steyn bowled ball of series to get rid of him he can play swing! hope he is well soon :)

rohit has shown signs of improvement in the last year or so in whatever ODIs he has played. i still believe virat has shown better temperament in international cricket but rohit, now, can surely be given a go in tests. these 2 are the future, no doubt about it

"cemented" is the word I wouldn't use .... yes, he is someone who has shown that he has the ability and thus should be given a place and chances .... But there are players like Pujara too so the competition is hot till some of the seniors retire

And yeah, my prediction above is only half serious because I know it's not as easy job to score a hundred on the first Australian tour. But as a betting man I would put Kohli down to get a century in one out of four tests given he gets to play all.

Honestly i still have doubts about Rohit's ability to concentrate and play long innings in test cricket.When i read the match report of his 175 in cricinfo it mentioned he was dropped thrice.In International cricket he wont get that many chances unless he is playing against Pakistan.Also got out to a poor shot against Karnataka trying to clear the infield after scoring a 50 in last round of Ranji matches. I just hope i am proved wrong as he definitely got the best technique of all our youngsters.

I would give Rohit a chance as well in the near future. The way he played in the odis since he was recalled to the odi side was promising. We didn't see any brain-farts from him and he was pretty consistent. I would give him a few chances post Australia series to see what he can do.
