I don't care much whether he gets his 100th 100 this year or next year, as long as he keeps scoring kind of 70's as he did today. It was a treat to watch whatever part of his innings I watched today.

There is a reason why he doesn't play in ONE single gear all the time. He is a freakin excellent judge of situations and conditions and plays accordingly. This is the main difference between him and say Sehwag or RD. He is very very shrewd in that regard. Knows when there are runs to be had. Yes it doesnt always work but it does by and large and hence the ginormous amounts of runs that he has plundered. Bleddy genius and pretty darn selfish one too :winky: The 30 odd he made at Centurion last year was another example ( of a different kind).
I agree with he can play in different gears but he plays within himself far too often. Take the 40 vs NZ as a recent example. He was plodding around vs a dire attack on a flat deck when he has the ability to dominate them playing at 60% of his ability. He is THAT good. PS: The 1st innings at Centurion reminded me of the 47 vs NZ in 1999 where Simon Doull ran through the top order. Some incredible shots when we were 15/4.

Yes. Rigveda II' date=' page 212 , para 3.[/quote'] [nirvanam mode] There are no paragraphs in the Rigveda. There are however, stanzas. The Rig Veda is by definition a collection of sacred verses, hymns and prayers. And as grammar dictates we refer to a collection of lines in poesy that are distinctly demarcated by visual breaks as stanzas. [/nirvanam mode] :roti:

the fact that i have a problem is not why he keeps missing his 100th 100... to **** with the hundreth 100 but the problem is with him missing out on 100 makes him miss out on 200 or maybe 300 also all valuable runs he could score for the team... what my problem is he is in terrific form and its just some bad luck or something that he keeps getting out after 50s... had he been getting out in 20s or 30s we could have said he is having a problem or something but no he plays beautifully till 70s or 90s and then one good ball or bad stroke...the fact is with his form of life team India's batting can take a huge boost if he goes on to score big ones.... For me it doesnot matter if he gets a 73 or a 103... its the same for me even though it gives him the hundredth 100 but for me its irritating that he scores 94, 73, 86 and misses out on another 100-odd runs he could score in that innings... and most of his innings we have seen since south africa in tests have been chanceless till he got out.. i want that extra 50-80 runs after his 100 and not just his 100 since a 94 and a 100 practically is the same for the team... but a 94 and a 154 is a huge difference

++++++ this! This is the reason behind my frustration. Of course no hiding the fact that the milestone counts but given the match situation and given the way the bugger was batting it looked like India will post 500 without a sweat. And the thing I hate most is that he always gets out against the run of play. Just imagine how much the Aussie camp would've been lifted up at the end of the day to see the back of the Buddha. I know they still have Lax to deal with coz Lax is treated with as much respect as Sachin is by the Aussie players. But the way the bugger was batting was just amazing. He showed why he is the Master and Sehwag is his Apprentice. Cruel!

Yes for us sitting way away from the action it all appears simple :P. But we kid when we say "why doesn't he do it this way all the time". The simple logical answer is that there is a method to his madness. He obviously figured out donkeys yrs ago that the free spirited mode doesn't work on all occasions. I raise the ante with 55 at Mumbai(2004) and 51 vs NZ (2002) :--D
Adding the 44 at Jo'burg in 2006. The pitch was spitting venom at the bull ring and he was pulling and hooking like a freak.

What a stupid arbitrary figure. 100 100s is not even in one format. Its for both ODIs and Tests combined. Why is it so important and why is everyone making a big deal out of it ?
