Forget the Big Four and Build the Team Around Yadav.

First of all this thread is not a dig at Indian batting greats. I have been watching cricket since 1987 and to me India have discovered a gem in Umesh Yadav. This guy is a special talent but what I have been impressed by is his temperament. The way he put his hand up and got India back into the game was a special effort. You often see players freeze on big stage early in their careers. This young man has a wise head on his shoulders. He is super fit and displays skills of someone who has been playing for years. Indian cricket always had top batsmen but this guy is the first fast bowler to come through who looks destined for bigger things. He needs to be managed properly though. First priority should be to avoid a burn out. There are so many meaningless LOs cricket being played and that can take it's toll on a young fast bowler. I know it's unrealistic to expect him skip IPL but he should be rested during some ODIs that happen round the year. Its great to see some good fast bowlers coming through and sport is better for it. Once again well done to the young man and may he go to fulfill his immense potential.

Let him finish the series and we'll see how it goes
He is a special talent regardless of how he goes in rest of the series. He should have had a 6fer had it not been for some horrendous umpiring. This is not a knee-jerk reaction. He impresses you every time. He has pace and moves the ball, bowls in good areas. You can't go wrong with solid basics that he displays.

and very simple action.. he is special our bowling was actually equal of oz bowling we lost while batting some good bad desicions thats part of game we specially cant complain abt that now can we? lol well series is not over.. we may very well win this if batting clicks (which usually does aftter first match england being the exception) but well rohit needs to coem in place of virat and rahane in place of gambhir if he fails again so one more chance for gauti.. i jsut feel bad for ishant, yadav, ashwin, zak brought us back into game after 50 run lead bowled at there best did everything they possibly can good job done by bowlers!

Fair enough id say. India's last five away matches read LLLLL. Funny considering they had their big three in all of those matches. The young ones aren't any impressive either. Time to focus on the likes of Aaron, yadav,Ashwin and ojha and build a team around them. Dhoni should resign. The big three must retire gradually

Don't tell me you've also bought into the hype.

Lets learn how to take care of him first. Youre right, very few LOI maybe even none, dont know if that is possible. Let him focus on tests at least for a season or two

So don't you think Aaron is a good upcoming bowler and can bowl at good pace.
I certainly don't. I am not convinced about his action and whether it can hold up in the long run. Yadav looks like a more finished article.

Let him first string more than a few Tests together and whether he can retain his current pace. He is a definite talent who I've really enjoyed watching but sadly we've been on this road before with Indian pacers.

He is only 22 and can only get better. He was better than Yadav in EPT where pitches were flatter. He would have been even better here as his natural length suits these conditions which is fuller than what Yadav's natural length is and is more accurate and can also reverse the old ball. Fitness can be an issue but most genuine pacers get injuries. One year ago, Yadav did not look anything like this. Aaron has already bowled well and has started well both in tests and ODIs. People on this forum were thinking and saying similar things about Yadav as well before his come back.

As much as I agree with your sentiment, your comment maybe a touch premature. Yadav could either turn out to be the next Brett Lee or the next Munaf Patel for us. Only a year from today will we be able to judge his progress and credentials for building a bowling unit around him.

to win tests consistently especially overseas you need both good batting as well fast bowling...cannot depend only on one department.
batsman grow with experience..but bowlers need to learn right lenght and line..and bowlers win matches

Let him play 20-25 Tests first then we'll decide whether to build a team around him or not. I am more impressed by Ashwin though. He bowled pretty well for a spinner on a pace friendly wicket. His batting is quite sound too. Umesh picked up key wickets but you have to remember that he had Zak and Ishant putting pressure from the other end. Having said that, I am not undermining Umesh, he is a special and a rare talent for India. I've heard good things about Abu Nechim as well, any ideas?

Premature ejaculation. :giggle:
C'mon mate. Lets appreciate him for trying to lift our spirits up and writing a good post in support of our boys. Don't look at the part of the world he comes from, look at the merit of his post.
