Damn! How can someone compare world cup with overseas series's, they both are different kinds of things. Isn't it? As per my book after becoming world champions you have to show some more consistency and promise because you are the world champions, for us (Pakistan and India) prime example is Australia, look how they dominated world cricket after winning every world cup.
:fear: welcome to Bashing j/k :icflove:

We have dominated ODIs in which we are world champions.

At home. We have even dominated tests at home
Do you even check? We have won our last ODI series in Aus, Pak, SL, NZ and WI. Only place we lost was in SA in a close series and in Eng in a rain affected series.

Sigh.We have won our last ODI series in Australia Pakistan New zealand Srilanka West Indies and Bangladesh.Thats 6 of the 8 test playing nations we have won ODI series in apart from thrashing every team at home. The only 2 series we have lost is in SA (where we fought closely without top players ) and in England where we played a near 2nd choice XI. If this isnt dominance what exactly is?

No thats not dominance. Dominance is when each loss is considered an upset like how it was with Australia. How we perform at home is pretty much similar to their overall pattern. Even Away from home, we have been a damn good side, but we dont dominate. We lost a pretty tough series in SA. In England we werent even able to win a single match.

That sort of Aura will only be created if we continue to dominate for another 4 - 5 years with another world cup or two.Even Aussies took time to build similar sort of aura.Remember Newzealand beating Australia regularly in early 2000 and Aus even losing a series at home 2002 i think. But that doesnt mean they werent dominating ODI cricket at that time. But the fact is that we have won ODI series in 6 out of 8 test playing nations apart from thrashing everyone at home including Australia.Maybe its not as close to domination as Aussies or west Indies but much better than being just decent away from home.

I would not even require all three series wins to top the WC win. Australia and South Africa series win would have been enough for me to trade the WC for it, not that I have the WC. Yeah there is tremendous excitement and euphoria in front on winning a WC, but all major cricket nations except England and New Zealand have won the WC (and NZ have been one of the most consistent performers), but the fact remains that neither India, Pakistan, or Sri Lanka have won a test series in Australia or South Africa and don't look like doing it for decades. As a cricketing achievement winning a series in Australia and South Africa would be the pinnacle of cricketing accomplishment for a subcontinent team.

Seems like South Africa is not really a major cricketing nation, but winning a series there would be the pinnacle of cricketing accomplishment. :dontknow:

Yeah, I missed South Africa. Doesn't change the crux of the argument. And I completely appreciate and understand the argument from people who value cricketing success depending on how many people celebrate it on the streets rather than it's difficulty on the ground. After all, we are the land of the IPL.

We won WC not because it was easy but we prepared and planned for it better. We don't win in Aus or SA because we hardly prepare to the required level.
