This world cup was lot more tougher than 2003 as we have to play 3 do or die knock out games which u lost its over.The pressure is unique.In 2003 the only similar game we played was against Kenya.U are comparing this with 2003? Even in Super six we never under similar pressure to 2011 wc since we played Kenya first and had carried points from group stage. This world cup we faced far more sterner challenges and came through everything. And winning at home is far more important than anywhere else ultimately.Hom many teams have won at home apart from us?

I grow up watching cricket hoping India would win the world cup.Not that we will win a series in Australia or SA.Yes i like Tests and would be happy if we win series there. But winning world cup is far far more important than some test series. How can anyone that watched the euphoria in India after the world cup triumph can even ask a question like this is beyond me frankly.

This was played in India, under home conditions, players were at ease, there were no fast bouncy pitches, all batting friendly or spin friendly tracks, and even then in league phases, we struggled, did not look like we are going beyond QF. We batted poorly against Pakistan in SF as well. Our best match was final especially because we fielded like never before in that match.

We had exceeded expectations by a mile! Our team was welcomed back on reaching Pakistan. A phenomenon never witnessed before after being knocked out by India. This is what I found most surprising about Pakistani's ,the format of the world cup was that with 1-2 good days even Bangladesh could have been in the semi's,why was reaching Semi was consider an acheivement by Pakistan?

Also i think in the knock out stages we had the hardest draw of any teams. I genuinely think we played the 3 toughest teams we could have played en route to victory. On a side note. The only reason people voted for winning foreign test series rather than the WC is because we were destroyed in England and now were are in the process of getting destroyed in Australia. I am sure if this poll was taken in 2 months, the results would be different.

I am sure if this poll was taken in 2 months, the results would be different. Yes, there was pressure, but if team had played to its 80% potential in home conditions, they would have won that is why it was not as challenging as it was in 2003 because of the different conditions and we have never performed that good in SA in ODIs before and after that WC. Remember, we dominated all the teams we defeated in that WC. While this time, we were challenged by England, beaten by SA, and even minnows had posed some challenge to us. Regarding your side note, yes this may be the case, but thing is we have never won any series in Aus and SA. It is good we won WC at home, but beating top teams at their own backyard in the best format of the game is much harder because of the different and alien conditions in those countries. If we had won this WC in Australia, it would have been our biggest achievement till date. I still consider our 1983 WC win is still our biggest achievement in world cricket along with ranked number one in test cricket.

What are you talking about? This Aus team was not extraordinary and actually was as good as SL, Pak, England, SA, etc., not much better than any other team in the tournament. Pressure is one thing but playing in home conditions is always an advantage especially for subcontinent teams. Players know they wont be tested by pace, bouncer, and swing. Spinners will come into play and we play spinners better than most.

adi B Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 first of all wc is the biggest thing in world cricket, i would never swap it even with a 4-0 win in australia.... but but but, i would want my team to win these 3 series as well, bcoz we r #2 nd were #1 a few time back, so if u are the best in the world, then prove it by winning the wc(which we did, but it was also in sc) nd win these 3 series, which we havent , so yes we are far from a great side or world domination
adi B Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 I wont even swap WorldT20 win for test series win in these countries.As a fan I was more happier after the WorldT20 win rather than the test series win in England which was won just a month prior to that. yeah u are spot on, but hey we won in england so kudos to us:yay:
