The misguided Indian fan

by Dhondy Indian fans are the most misguided, gullible idiots in the world. Instead of trying to better themselves and become the best in the world at what they do, learn new things, break new frontiers, they spend most of their lives following an overrated side at a marginal sport that is run by a mafia whose only goal is self-enrichment. The players are accomplices- last year, a nobody like Uthappa made as much from IPL as Yaya Toure gets paid by Manchester City on a pro-rata basis. Gambhir made as much as Lionel Messi. You couldn't make this up. You, the Indian cricket fan, bankrolled their fortunes, the BMWs, Mercs and posh Mumbai seaside villas of Indian administrators. In the process, you descended to the level of a fraud victim, who has lost control over his own time, has his happiness in hock to these players of fortune, and who has willingly ceded his own shot at greatness, or something nearing thereof, to the vicissitudes of a few players who view you as a piggy bank. You might justifiably ask- why was this site named Indian Cricket Fans then? I admit- it was a mistake. We too were victims once. But we learnt. It's time you did too...or face a gormless, joyless, unproductive existence- ask junkies high on dope whether they have a life.

As much as good it sounds to read all of that, it's whole lot of crap which Dhondy has written there. He is perhaps one of the best writers here, whom I respect a lot, but that is just not good enough to be one of his articles or anything. It's a side. Nothing over rated. No team has been as consistent as Australia. We are following our country. Who the damn in the world cares whether we follow an overrated side or not. Also, please don't dish these topics out when the team is down. When similar combination of players won you the world cup, or a match in south africa, or some overseas test series, no one dares to bring any trash in but all are enjoying the glory. If you are an Indian cricket fan, put up with this and be like a fan, or else show yourself the route and please stop following it.

:--D Messi has won Barcelona many titles. What has Gambhir won KKR? It is the club/Franchise that pays the big wages not the Argentine FA in Messi's case (although it would not surprise me if the BCCI paid some of Gambhir's KKR wages) Your right though about Gambhir, whenever i have cricket debates with my friends and they try to say he is ****, i always say that his performances in finals have won his country 2 WC's.

For which country Messi plays? Stupid thread :emc:. We know our team n their limitations. We r not misguided. Nothing is bigger than Cricket in India, not even FECK. MIND IT. We will keep supporting them. I dont care if americans play cricket or not or China respects Sachin or not. Cricket symbolizes India and India is symbolized by Cricket

This same team performed magically under Gary Kirsten, but now it just seems a bunch of folks with bloated egos who turn up for the match, they know their name is on the list and no one can touch them Truth be told: Looking forward to Pak/Eng Matches I am so disgusted seeing these folks on the field, almost feel like throwing up and don't see any remorse

I agree with the OP this Indian team is gutless, but the blame should be laid at the feet of the Indian fans as well. They were screeching and bragging how great this Indian team was, even when India got the no 1 test position a lot of people around the world weren't convinced. They drew a series in SA 1-1, England smashed them, they beat the WI in WI 1 - 0, they won against a few minnows at home and managed to get to number 1, a lot of Indian fans didn't see that it was all just an illusion. Drastic changes are needed in India, but I don't see it happening, when grounds are empty in India during the Test matches it says it all. All Indians should feel humiliated this Australia team is young and has still managed to walk through this "world class batting lineup" but Australia have gone about proving to the world just how overrated this Indian team is. BCCI is one of the most corrupt governing bodies in India, but every sports federation in India is corrupt, things will never change in India, IPL will come along and test cricket will be forgotten. India will beat sides at home and once again claim how great they are, I hope lessons are being learned now. How can a country like Australia with 23 million people continue to produce great sportsmen and women in all fiends? And India struggles to find quality sportspeople in any field? Hard question need to be asked.

What a stupid thread. Fans are the ones who make a sport. Yes there are players and administrators who take advantage but this is ridiculous. We should be encouraging change at high level, not abandoning our sport.

This is what being a fan means. The English soccer fans have been braving bad weather, bad travel conditions and bad jails all over the world...and their team hasn't won anything much since World Cup 1966. Thats nearly 46 years of taking sh**.

I havent seen a more stupid thread than this in this forum. If anyone seriously agrees with this crap is either trolling or doesnt have a self thinking brain.
