Not only does Kohli have flawless technique, he has a very strong mentality. A 'me against the world' outlook. Not a pussy 'scared of the short ball' bollocks like Raina and Gambhir. These are the early stages of one of the best batsmen we'll see. I have been backing him for a while now. You know he's a special player.
Old guy Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 whole world can say anything it wants but this guy worked hard on his game his biggest problem was short pitched bowling see how he was pulling them in front of mid wicket! he gets angry but atleast he uses those emotions anger to improve himself reminds me such much of ponting but plz don make him captain he needs atleast 5-6 years of experience otherwise lots of strange unwanted hings would happen on field :P

All of you are saying he is this that cause he is from Delhi or Punjabi etc. Incorrect stereotype as not all people are like that. If you got no problem believing that all are like that i hope you dont have no problem believing all southies are meek pacifists. You see Tendulkar geting out same way every game to siddle. Like he got out caught in slips by Siddle last night, so you mean is flaw in Tendulkar's technique? Guy with most runs all over the world is now having a flaw in his technique since he keep getting out easily in similar fashion? Thing is we should stop hyping the word technique. It's a word which shouldn't be associated with Cricket or any sports for that matter.

Most of you guys have never been outside of India so have no clue what youre talking about but people respect you more if you stand up and hold your ground now bow your head and look away like a Dravid when faced with aggression. You can look up my posts regarding him, and would struggle to find anything negative about his batting except that he has a tendency to hang is bat outside off stump on occasions. Ideally, I would want someone like Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman, or Kumble who would be perfectly well mannered and yet perform superbly, but if that can't happen I'll take Kohli.

I have mentioned before that his bat comes down from inside the line. When the ball isn't moving around much, all those extracover drives look great as do the flicks to mid-wicket but he will be shown up on moving tracks. He needs to work on that. Ofcourse technique is slightly overrated . Without grit, one might become a Sanjay Manjrekar. You say Sachin is failing inspite of having technique.I say its a massive loss of confidence. Without technique he couldn't have lasted as long as he did,nor would have Ponting,Kallis or Dravid. A player needs technique,temperament and perseverance in equal measure. Kohli can brush up on the first two.

If you can't see that his technique (high elbow, good stride, bat-pad, eyes over the ball, straight bat etc.) is very sound, you've probably never played cricket to a decent level before.
