Kohli, and Umesh are definite +ve. This tour also showed what a stupid captain Dhoni really was in Test matches. Now we can expect a new captain for test matches. This tour also showed that Laxman and Dravid have passed their prime.

The only "positive" at intl level' date=' or at any professional level is a win. Rest of the stuff is made up by losers to make themselves feel good.[/quote'] :(( :sniffle: Bro, failures are failures but we can still learn a lot from these defeats. Obviously, now Indian team will have to go through the transition phase, so we will have to look at the bright points for our future

We should have seen this coming after the Eng series. Those who don't learn lessons from their mistakes are bound to repeat them. We just did. After being whitewashed by Eng 4-0 we play the exact same batting lineup with Kohli the sole exception. Guess what! We were thrashed 4-0 again with Kohli our best batsman! If we had been pro-active and made a few changes ahead of the series, or even after the first 2 tests we would have been in a much better situation.

Yes, seriously thats true. It is whole different thing when you have Ricky Ponting in your team who is the best fielder and fitness-wise no youngster can beat him. But it is so painful to see, Laxman and Dravid moving in the field and running between the wickets. They still didn't want to bring in any change and continued with the losing combination. I remember an incident where Laxman was chasing the ball in Adelaide test and batsmen run 4 runs and whole crowd was laughing on him, you could hear that clearly. Suddenly there was buzz in the crowd. Even commentary box was ROFL

The biggest positive I would think after losing these two whitewashes if they understand the importance of good fast bowlers in a test team. No matter which legend you have, how many 100s and runs they have scored if they are against a disciplined fast bowling attack which is not giving an inch to play them the stroke and is consistently probing at around off stump with some good pace and also movement on these kind of pitches, they are going to falter more often than not. Their fast bowlers were relentless especially Siddle after Pattinson got injured and Harris showed in this test why he has been their best bowler over one year. In comparison, our bowlers were wayward, experimental, trying to do to much on every ball rather than just focusing on basics, be patient and bowl in good areas ball after ball. They lacked patience and consistency. Yadav showed some glimpses of brilliance but needs to learn the art of consistency quickly. Being consistent does not mean you drop your pace, but bowl in good areas more consistently at good pace and do not experiment and expect a wicket on every ball. If he does not improve, he can also be another Sreesanth or Ishant. He was too short most often. Zak was okay, not brilliant. Ishant was hoping out of hope and then there is not much here for a spinner to do. Now BCCI must learn their lesson that a team may not have 6 great batsmen in a batting order like it was with Australia as their top order did not fire much, but if you have a relentless fast bowling attack, you can trouble even the best batsmen. Find fast bowlers, give them the best bowling coach and best regimens. This is the only way to go for us now. Talent is not a problem for us right now in terms of fast bowlers coming, but intent and planning from the BCCI is and if it does not happen, I can see a loss like this against SA next year and in the future tours as well.

^ True, without good genuine fast bowlers, we just cannot win abroad. We might won here or there but we will keep struggling like this forever, like we have so far. We need atleast 2 good backup fast bowlers.

The only positive out of this tour - It has shown India its rightful place and standards in test crciket. So we have identified a real base camp, from where we can begin our long trek to the top again. If nothing, it has destroyed the myth that India is a top team at the moment and hence there will be no delusions about where we stand now. Something constructive can be done only when the old house is brought down, which has happened to India, and we can begin again.
