MIMI Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showthread.php?t=277622 Far too many no.3 batsman threads NVM dude
Dravid_TheWall Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Where is the midget option? Does he have the game for no3? He has been a big flop for last 2 tours v good opposition, maybe no3 can give him some more responsibility and he may thrive.

SLICKR392 Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Scoring a ton or 2 doesn't mean you get to have the No.3 position. Kohli's is best suited as a No.4 IMO. Out of these 4, I would pick Pujara as No.3 or I would rather opt for a different opening pair with Gauti on No.3.
MIMI Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Tindu He won't move from no.4 I guess he will stay in the no.4
King Khan Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 None but Virat deserv it most, the only hope for future Indian cricket atm. This only inform performer needs to be at wicket as much time as possible, so that all other under-performing players can have some breathing space to settle for some partnerships. Leaving Kohli at down order dont give him enough opertunity to attack; he needs to be tested in upper order.
daryl1985 Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Has to be Pujara. Kohli did well in Australia but i feel Pujara is more patient and would be a better option coming in 1 down. Kohli is a future number 4 once Sachin retires. Pujara has scored loads of runs domestically and on A Tours, he deserves to be given a go.
Ultimate_Game Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 My lineup... Sehwag Gambhir Rahane Rohit Kohli Pujara Dhoni If Rahane struggles at 3, I would swap his and Pujara's spot.

fineleg Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 SRT remains at #4.No point changing that now. VVS Laxman at #3, he can handle it for now. VS (tummy, parantha tummy needs to get fit, work hard) GG Laxman (has done well at #3 in some cases, experienced) Tendu Pujara Kohli (like Ganguly, can accelerate if reqd down the order, quick boundaries) Dhoni or new wk batsman bowlaars in future replace #3 Lax spot with Che or Aji

A few failures at that position and he might be under pressure.... IIRC, VVS didn't want to open when he started out playing for India... #3 is almost like opening.
rkt.india Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 VVS cant bat at 5..you are talking him to bat at 3.

Haven't we learnt enough from 0-8 about succession plan or are we glutton for some more punishment?
India-KXIP fan Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 we haven't found yet ' date=' but we need to start giving them chances now.[/quote'] This, I think next in line for a chane to prove himself in Tests is Pujara. Kohli should be 4.
Marut Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 The best batsman in the side has to come at no:3. It is Kohli, for me right now, until somebody else prove themselves at the highest level. Kohli has not really provied himself fully in the test format, but that is the best we have got right now.
Sooda Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 I wish Rahane and Mukund had come good this A tour. I would not have minded- Mukund, GG, Rahane, Kohli, Sehwag, Pujara I also wish Pujara had batted at 3, in prep for India role. As it happens we might be sending a newbie to bat at 3, hope VVS is not picked GG, Mukund/Rahane, PuJara, SRT, Sehwag, Kohli Seems ok
