Old guy Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Well, when one is passionate about things, one says stuff to try and offend the other and racism is involved. That's alot better than being casually racist and calling those people that word on a daily basis. actually many of us dont consider it a racist slang ..its only famous in uk i stopped using it when i came to know abt it .. also using it to willfully make fun and hurt is much worse :offtopic:
The Outsider Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Well, when one is passionate about things, one says stuff to try and offend the other and racism is involved. That's alot better than being casually racist and calling those people that word on a daily basis. You realize that the word Paki is considered racist mainly in England and Canada. In the US it has no racial connotations and even Pakistanis here use it as an abbreviation. Neither does it have any racial connotations in India or Pakistan. You can confirm this from Pakistani posters who live in Pakistan. Moreover, the racist usage of the word is not restricted to Pakistanis - it applies to all South Asians including Indians. Since the website is hosted on a US server and the vast majority of users are from India and US, there is no reason for Paki to be considered as a racist word on this site. If you don't want to use it, it's your prerogative but implying that it's use is racist in general is wrong.
G_B_ Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 for whats its worth i shall be talking with indiaregulator over the weekend via skype.

GoldenSun Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I live in the US and the term is not considered racist. I agree. As an Indian American, I agree completely with you. Props for L'Etranger and your acute reasoning :)

Laaloo Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 :two_thumbs_up: Where do you live in the US? I would like to come over and steal your mouse and keyboard so you stop making threads on ICF
G_B_ Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Where do you live in the US? I would like to come over and steal your mouse and keyboard so you stop making threads on ICF  hahahaha just to clarify, in the UK the term paki is used as a derogatory term towards all south asians. Its not just related in the context of pakistanis. A similar derogation in the USA might be something like "dot head"

Its not just related in the context of pakistanis. A similar derogation in the USA might be something like "dot head" No.. It is merely considered as an abbreviation for Pakistanis. Anyway we have our beloved word "padosis"
indiaregulator Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 So...this has turned a bit stupid now given both the openers have made centuries...
vvvslaxman Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 So...this has turned a bit stupid now given both the openers have made centuries... I expected this. This is a relatively inexperienced NZ attack. England has faced wide range of attacks these days and they are battle hardened under cook who leads the way consistently.
G_B_ Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 well England actually lose points even if they win 1-0 v NZ they maintain their points with a 2-0 win.
Lord Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 well England actually lose points even if they win 1-0 v NZ they maintain their points with a 2-0 win. :WTF:
G_B_ Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 :WTF: too much of a difference in points. Even BD v Sl, if SL win only 1-0 then they will bleed points. When india were number 1 we actually lost 2-3 points despite beating WI home and away

G_B_ Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 pathetic system:wall: its fair actually a fair system really. It gauges the relative strength and weakness of teams.
Lord Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 its fair actually a fair system really. It gauges the relative strength and weakness of teams. you can give more points for beating big teams n less for small teams, but penalising teams for winning is absurd

England has faced wide range of attacks these days and they are battle hardened under cook who leads the way consistently. Way to miss the point - the pitch is flat as a pan cake. Hardly any attack could do anything here apart from couple of overs with the new ball.
