If we get a Kashmiri cricket star, we get two things; 1, Fast bowler of Paki ilk in capability (hopefully) 2, Something other than Anti India sentiment for Kashmiris. Eventually get reclaim international cricket ground in Srinagar ( green track of our own)

The trials will be conducted by the National Cricket Academy faculty in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, over the next couple of weeks and boys between the age of 17 and 22 will be eligible, a BCCI release stated. The youngsters, though, should have played in any BCCI-run tournament to participate. Former Test cricketer, Karsan Ghavri, and Yoginder Puri will supervise the trials and shortlist the bowlers. While the trials will be held in Himachal's Dharamsala on February 18 and 19, the boys from Jammu and Kashmir will be able to showcase their skills in Jammu on February 22 and 23. The camp will then move to Ranchi on February 25 before shifting to Raipur on February 28. Yeah, I have always heard about the 'extra yard of pace' he used to possess. Did he show some of that in internationals as well, or was it always the 'extra yard of moobs' that he had?

Just that his height was small. Otherwise he was a decent enough bowler for India. Infact, in his time, he was the fastest bowler in that Indian team. Gony bowls 135 consistently in domestic first class matches, just like our any other fastest domestic bowlers. If you give him confidence and some time in international just like Vinay Kumar, he can definitely add 10 ks in his bowling. Actually, he is a naturally 140+ bowler. If you remember first year of IPL, he was the fastest Indian bowler in that IPL. He was consistently over 140. Thats y he was included in ODI team as well. But, apart from speed, he didn't have much control, so he end up being thrown out of the team.

saneindian Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 We need such trials happenming across thec country especially in rural areas where there could be abundance of naturally talented players who haven't had much top clas coaching but are genuinely talented and need some guidance. The set in stone coaching systems of the bigger cities isn't really helping our cricket much for the last few years and BCCI needs to continue to look for not just pacers but spinners, batsmen, all rounders in those hinterlands. Also, why limit such trials to players having played BCCI tournaments alone? That may deprive some genuine talents who do not get to play such tournaments due to nepotism at the junior levels. Wonder why they haven't yet revived the TRDO concept so successful in the early 2000s.

He told me to do this in February. I have not talked to him since then.

But, he was Indian thats why he wasn't given that much importance and ofcourse his last ball six by Javed Miandad. He is more popular for that
