IndiaÃÔ former cricket captain Kapil Dev feels Sachin Tendulkar should retire from oneÃÃ…ayers, saying the champion batsmanÃÔ time is finally up after over two decades at the international level. ŧrom what we have seen in the last three months, he should have announced his retirement before the World Cup. If Dhoni makes such mistakes repeatedly, he will have to pay the price, he said. But he defended DhoniÃÔ comment that senior players were slow fielders. Ÿith too many seniors, itÃÔ no denying the fact that there will be drop in fielding standards for they are no longer young. I donÃÕ think individual players are bigger than the Indian team. Had they performed, these issues would not have cropped up, he said. On whether there is a divide within the team given DhoniÃÔ comments, Kapil said, Ã…Â¥onÃÕ they want to perform at their best? I donÃÕ think they will underÃÑerform (because of any differences). Speaking about other senior players such as Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman, Kapil said, Ū think Dravid and Laxman have played their last Test. They could be given one last Test for a respectable exit, but certainly not at the cost of teamÃÔ interests. ŵhere is no denying that the likes of Rahul, Sachin and Laxman have served the nation like few other cricketers. But they are no longer young and if Indian cricket does not move forward from the Big Three, it will risk falling a generation back and struggle like the West Indies and Australian teams have done in the past. Finally took the greatest cricketer of India ever produced to start it. [Cheerleader mode on] Look at Kapil's record in his last 7 years 8 months and 17 days, and how he occupied a place thereby not allowing greats like Bharathi Arun & Salil Ankola to make India the dominating power of 90's. It's funny to see Kapil saying SRT's time is up when Kapil continued well past his prime for 2 years with a much better Srinath on the bench :haha: At least in SRT's case there's no outstanding youngster who's being denied opportunity. But I agree with Kapil and SRT should retire from not only odis but Tests as well.

sachin denied Robin uthappa chance after 2007 world cup...he blamed uthappa when everyone failed in that world cup....he then requested ambani to take uthappa in MI team and then he made him middle order batsman as he didnt want threat to his place as opener that time..after that he became injured in 2008 and despite good showing by uthappa in challenger trophy and domestic season in 2008-09 he asked selectors to use makeshift openers like kohli kartik,rohit sharma and hence ruined youngsters career...this made side effect on uthappa and his performance got down due to lack of spirit in domestics....what kind of politics is it...:((

Fortunately he didn't listen to you and since then led India to number one ranking and WC win with his unmatched contributions. Please don't start with Gamnbhir and Dhoni won the Finals....Who got them to the finals in the first place.

Couple of things there UG. a) In the games the two played together here is their performance: Srinath: 12 Tests 33 wickets@36.72 0 5ers Kapil: 12 Tests 39 wickets@28.9 2 5ers So clearly Kapil didnt come 2nd best, and thats purely as a bowler mind you. b) I do agree that Srinath should have played lot more, maybe that would helped him gain some more experience playing alongside Kapil instead of pitching against him. At the time we had Kapil-Prabhakar opening and no reason why Srinath should not have been 1st change. All the three should have been played. The issue was less to do with Kapil and more with whole nonsensical Indian philosphy of playing 7 batsmen, which continues to this day. Compare this with Pakistan, say, where Wasim-Waqar were bowling alongside Imran. It was never a question of Waqar waiting till Imran retired. xxx

Nah ,People have got used to kapil ,he has now called for sachin retirement 100 th time on kaltak.
