Utalk Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 The worst batsman that I have seen in 26 years of watching international cricket. It was inevitably going to happen in t20 cricket. I don't blame him I blame the selectors who picked him ahead of many deserving openers. I am more angry about the treatment of hammad Azam who clearly is a talent worth nurturing.
Ultimate_Game Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Just watching the Eng vs Pak T20-----Saw this guy play one of the most WTF innings I have ever seen....:hysterical: 6(12)----well what is so funny you might ask? This guy tried to heave 11 balls took wild swings at each and every one, connected 1 ball for a 6 and got out on the 12th ball trying the same. Beleive me I haven't seen a worse batsman than this guy I am amazed that ineptitude of paki openers, especially the T20 ones, surprised you :giggle: They had hacks of the likes of Imran Nazir, Ahmed Shehzad, Shehzab Hassan etc. which actually make Hafeez look like Barry Richards :haha: By the way did I mention that most of Paki youngsters' idol is "The Beast" Afridi so what can you expect from the younger generation :haha:
Ultimate_Game Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 But But Raina is all that's wrong with today's cricket :giggle: Didn't get your point What has Raina got to do with opening? Raina has great attitude and will succeed in shorter formats, and I am hopeful he will come back in the Tests as well once the seniors retire.
maniac Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Awais Zia-the worst batsman I have ever seen Just watching the Eng vs Pak T20-----Saw this guy play one of the most WTF innings I have ever seen....:hysterical: 6(12)----well what is so funny you might ask? maniac Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 He is mini-beeeaasshhht You are gonna make our padosis bhery angry. :hysterical: Just can't erase his innings out of my mind.....ever single ball of those 12 balls he faced is just stuck with me for the rest of my life.....Probably one of the most memorable displays of batting in recent times
Trichromatic Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Afridi did something similar against England in 2003 WC.
Magneto Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Afridi did something similar against England in 2003 WC. and in another 50 odd matches.
maniac Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Afridi did something similar against England in 2003 WC. True but atleast I have seen Afridi play some decent innings once in a blue moon where he rotated strike or played more than 1 shot.....I know it is too early to judge this guy but seriously it was a WTF innings
Number Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 They poached him from the celebrity cricket league or what ?? :cantstop:
maniac Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Finn to Awais Zia, no run, defended on his stumps. "Is that his first defensive shot in international cricket?" wonders Gnasher to my right. You know, I think it is Dernbach to Awais Zia, 1 wide, slower ball, out the back of the hand ... and well outside the return crease Dernbach to Awais Zia, 1 wide, and another one! Put the magic tricks back in the box, Paul Daniels ... Dernbach to Awais Zia, no run, straight this time and Zia misses with a pull, the ball thunking into his body Finn to Awais Zia, no run, straight, not quite short enough to pull but Zia tries anyway, the ball dribbling square Finn to Awais Zia, no run, back of a length, defended to point on the back foot Looks like Finn has worked out where to bowl to Zia since the last time ... Finn to Awais Zia, SIX, or maybe not! Finn pitched it up, on leg stump and Zia clubs the ball high over long-on. When he connects, this lad, the ball goes places Dernbach to Awais Zia, no run, again Dernbach rolls it out of his wrist and Zia mistimes an attempted hoick over cover, failing to connect Dernbach to Awais Zia, 1 wide, slung down the leg side and Zia watches it impassively Dernbach to Awais Zia, no run, length, punched off the back foot to point Finn to Awais Zia, no run, takes the pace off it, angled across the lefty, who misses again. He's not connected with all that many so far, has Zia. Though the one he has hit knew about it Broad to Awais Zia, no run, Broad rolls his fingers over the ball, beating another misdirected swing from Zia. Still just one scoring shot for the opener, after more than five overs Broad to Awais Zia, no run, angled across ... and another swing and a miss! Broad to Awais Zia, no run, length, seaming away and, guess what, Zia tries to spank it down the ground again. You don't need me to tell you if he connected Broad to Awais Zia, OUT, holes out to mid-off - that, thankfully, puts Zia out of his misery. That was a shocking innings, really gruelling to watch as Zia tried to force slog after slog. He finally got bat on ball but only succeeded in dolly-ing it to the fielder Awais Zia c Dernbach b Broad 6 (12b 0x4 1x6) SR: 50.00 Here is the historical innings from Cric info commentary...the commentary has got nothing on watching this live:hail::hail::hail:

Pak_Fan_4_Eva Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 I believe you haven't seen Shahzaib Hasan bat :P
rkt.india Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 I believe you haven't seen Shahzaib Hasan bat :P He is comical...worst batsman I have seen. He plays like MUnaf and he is an opener.
ganeshran Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 He has one shot - the slog to the on side. His off side play seemed non existent. Lets see how he does in future matches.
Clarke Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 But But Raina is all that's wrong with today's cricket :giggle:
bajrang Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 india got two guys like that, uthaapa and dinesh kartik. they make century against hopeless domestic bowler in same manner but atleast they dont go to same level stupidity as Awais Zia showed in an intentional match.
